Style Diary-Ya-Ya Foldover Pants

While it's not often that you see something on the street that becomes an absolute must have, this was exactly the case with the new foldover linen pant by Ya-Ya. I had stopped in at Dari in Studio City to pick up a pair of jeans I put on hold (Great China Wall, see "Cool Finds") when I noticed two different sales associates wearing the most incredible casual pants ever - soft and slouchy with a long foldover waist, just a hint between dressy and casual - absolutely gorgeous. The store was sold out but happily, I was able to locate a pair Online, which I immediately ordered.

Without a doubt, these pants are amazing. I was sold long before they arrived but after finally receiving them, I'm even more in love. The material is a soft, slouchy 100% linen in a pretty, heathered hue that has a bit of a different look but is still every bit as workable and wearable. It has a very simple, breezy vibe yet is surprisingly fitted on - cut close to the body at the hip and top of thigh then flowing outward as it nears the ankle in sleek, billowed style. The foldover band at the top is made of a very snug, stretchy ribbed material - it fits tight to the body but still fits smoothly, feeling very comfortable but supportive on.

From a sizing standpoint, this is where I personally feel they get a little tricky - they're true to size but expect the fit to be spot on, without a lot of wiggle room, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but could mean that somebody in a P may be able to equally fit a S. Mine are P and have an exact, almost perfect fit - if anything, a tiny bit tight. It seems this makes sizing up possible - you'll want to be careful, though, because of the additional material it'd add throughout.

Offline shoppers, try out a couple of sizes before you buy (if possible). Online shoppers, you may want to order your true size, though as with any item you're unsure about, call the store and inquire. Most Online retailers know the fit well enough to help you sort everything out. In terms of length, the inseam on this pant is very long, but it alters easily - you can do it yourself, just be sure to use fabric scissors to prevent fraying, etc.

Overall, this pant is awesome. I like the way it has a bit of a casual but dressier vibe and the foldover waist adds a cool touch. The 100% linen material is a nice switch from cotton jersey and model blends, both of which I am a fan of but appreciate having another option. I've seen it paired up with everything from dressy tank tops to casual vintage tees and it held up with both, so expect it to be as workable as it is wearable. Read More…
