What is The Tasting Kitchen?

Chef Casey Lane has taken over the stoves at the former AK space in Venice. The Portland native and his dedicated staff (all former ClarkLewis employees) bring a genuine, Northwest-style passion for food to the space now known as The Tasting Kitchen. True to the name, they'll be serving a variety of dishes that will be appropriately paired with cocktails and wine. The menu will be changing often, creating a truly entertaining culinary environment. Bold and rugged flavors of rural Spain and Morocco with a dash of Italy and France abound. Sometimes surprising, sometimes comforting, but never dull food and wine for the people.

Why go to The Tasting Kitchen?

Chef Casey Lane has truly and painstakingly created a very special place with The Tasting Kitchen, in that the menu is full of incredible-sounding dishes that vary nightly. Every morning, Lane visits the local farmer's market and picks the produce and meats that are the freshest, and creates a menu based on his picks. He tends to regularly visit the tables and get customer feedback, creating an interactive dining experience that is truly unlike any other spot in the area. After gauging the customer's likes and dislikes, Chef Lane will solidify a set menu. Head over to TTK now - and be a part of the magic.

When To Go To The Tasting Kitchen

Open from 6-11PM on Monday - Sunday and from 11AM - 2:30Pm for a cozy Sunday Brunch, The Tasting Kitchen is definitely a place to make sure you have a reservation. I would suggest a weeknight, as the bar area tends to get pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. It also may be fun to pop in on one of Abbott Kinney's "First Fridays of the Month," a sort-of "block party" for all of the stores, restaurants and galleries that stay open late and offer all sorts of specials and goodies for locals and tourists alike.

What to wear at The Tasting Kitchen

In Venice, pretty much anything goes. The diners at The Tasting Kitchen are as varied as they come, going from flip flops and cutoff shorts to stilettos with bandage skirts. I would suggest keeping it simple with a pair of slouchy jeans, a loose-fitting camisole and a pretty headband. Delicious!
