What is Megu NYC?

The Big Apple’s latest high end Asian eatery that gives mainstay Mr. Chow a run for its money.

WHO: Angelina Jolie with Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, a reportedly grumpy Martha Stewart, and J-Lo with hubby Marc Anthony.

Why go to Megu NYC?

Every inch of the original Megu (there's a second one in midtown) is meticulously designed in a mix of modern and antique motifs. Porcelain rice-bowl columns teeter high above the auditorium-sized dining area, and a gigantic temple bell suspends over a bottom-lit ice carving. Pampering servers, decked out in haute Japonica, flutter between cavernous leather booths and the long sushi bar. Even the celebs seem impressed. And that's just the décor, the food is equally enchanting. The modern, largely organic Japanese fusion menu is served up under categories such as Crown Jewels and Gems from Japan, and popular items include fried rice with oysters and Kimchi and the Kobe beef with sesame and grated ginger in soy butter. If it’s drinks you’re after you won't be disappointed with the upstairs bar quipped with seating for 75, and a private room bookable for parties.

When To Go To Megu NYC

Unless you can slip the hostess a Benjamin, or flash your black amex, a reservation is highly recommended at the Nobu for the 21st century. If you want to avoid the dinner crowd, lunch service at Megu offers the same menu in a slightly more laid back atmosphere.
