The beautifully and recently restored Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades. The newer of the two Getty Museums in Los Angeles.

If you are stimulated by breathtaking artwork in a breathtaking surrounding, the Getty Villa is the place for you. The architectural plan of the Villa is meant to evoke that of an ancient architectural dig, and is a great place to take a first date or spend an afternoon with a friend.

Sweeping vistas of Malibu are the icing on the cake to this treasure trove of ancient objects. Also, enjoy lunch at the gourmet but reasonably priced cafe overlooking the Museum.

A calendar of special events features such items as Greek comedies and tragedies performed in the Villa's very own outdoor Greek amphitheater.

The exquisite landscaping is interrupted by various pools and fountains laid out in the style of an ancient Greek Villa.

Tickets are free, parking is $8.00. Tickets reserve a specific time-slot and day so make sure to get your tickets and parking reservations ahead of time.

Insider's Tip Same day tickets can sometimes be acquired by calling the Getty early in the morning of the day you want to visit and asking for cancellation spots.

Thursday–Monday, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The weather in L.A. is beautiful year round and so is the Getty Villa.
