Spicy Bar Celona adds an exotic element to its Cubs-heavy Wrigleyville strip with a sassy, casual Latin feel and fare. Owner Adolfo Garcia has equipped the modern space with loungey touches such as a large flat-screen TV, zebra-patterned fur lining the bar and heavy-duty mirrors. Singles mingle while young couples on first dates fill the tall leatherette stools and seated dining area in back. Tapas selections like camaron (wine and garlic-sauteed shrimp) and hongos (mushroom and pesto) hail from Spain, Mexico and California - more importantly, they're delicious and big enough for two. Good paninis, salads and tacos are also available. The full bar churns out plenty of flavored martinis, beer and wine, but sangria is the house specialty. Margaritas offer more kick and flavor in many varieties, including traditional - frozen or on the rocks - or sweeter strawberry and raspberry.

This is a modern, Spanish-style lounge with a California feel. It's casual cool inside: leather booths, terra cotta-colored walls, a bar made of cowhide, oak and inlaid tin, and a medley of chandeliers from Spain and Mexico. A glass garage-like door in front opens onto the street. Bar Celona is definitely the spot for mouth-watering tapas and amazing drink concoctions. The famous sangria is a must-try, as they have perfected the art of mixing wine and fruit with splendid and magical results. An added bonus - the menu is quite affordable, and the staff is quite attentive and consistently checks on their patrons. I would also make sure to take advantage of Bar Celona's weekly specials; for example, Tuesday is Taco Tuesday and offers $1 tacos and a selection of beer for $2.50, and on Thursday, you can get $4 tapas, $3 Cosmos and $2 sangria. Yum!

Bar Celona is open Monday through Friday from 5PM to 2AM (and until 3AM on Saturdays!) and from 5PM - 12AM on Sundays. In short, Bar Celona is a great place to come and unwind with a group of friends seeking a fun night on the town. If you are visiting the Windy City and are in the mood for an alternative to "hot dogs and beer" Wrigleyville dining, this is a must-stop. With such a lively, spicy atmosphere, Bar Celona is the perfect environment to get a little wild and unleash your naughty side - all while looking fabulous, of course!
