The ProportionofBlu, founded in 2006 by designers Terrell Wick and Richard Atkins, is a design driven brand inspired and based in the proportions of the Golden Ratio. Defined as 1:1.6180339…, the ratio is a naturally reoccurring sequence of measurements and patterns that continually presents itself not only in natural forms, but in architecture, music, art, as well as our DNA. In all disciplines, many feel the Golden Ratio is a kind of universal law that permeates most structures and forms that are perceived as naturally beautiful. Designers Terrell Wick and Richard Atkins have applied this unifying mathematical principal to their design and patternmaking, creating an intricately engineered collection that postures itself on fit, proportions and sublime details.

Fit being the first and foremost focus of each garment, The ProportionofBlu applies the ratio to many aspects of pattern cuts as well as design detail including pocket size and placement, hardware treatments and details such as darts and pleats to finishing. “The ratio while complex in principle, translates to a sublime simplicity in our design,” says Richard Atkins. “Working within the platform of the ratio there exists endless possibilities of evolvement and development within our designs as well as ourselves as designers. The goal always being to continue to create a perfect fit and allowing the balance of symmetry and asymmetry, known to the ratio, to exude the natural beauty of its wearer,” adds Terrell Wick.

The ProportionofBlu is based in Venice, California with offices in Hong Kong. The distinctive collections can be found in high-end boutiques and specialty department stores worldwide.
