Sue Wong

About the brand...

Founded in 1985, Sue Wong designs are a truly unique collection of dresses. As a young immigrant to Los Angeles, California from rural communist China, Sue Wong was inspired by the Hollywood glamour all around her and dreamed of going into the arts. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in a fashion program at Los Angeles Technical College and within a month received a scholarship from Arpeja fashion company. Finally able to express her artistic talents, she quickly decided to trade her education for a full time design job in Arpeja’s sportswear division. As with every position she took on, Sue quickly climbed the ladder at Arpeja and was soon designing dresses for her own line. Beginning with simple day dresses and soon opening up to evening wear, her line was an immediate success.

With designs that take inspiration from the history of fashion, spanning from the 1890’s all the way through the 1970’s, Sue Wong dresses echo fashion’s past while remaining completely modern. Known for their technical excellence as well as ornate and intricate detailing, Sue Wong garments are meticulously hand beaded, embroidered and finished, using techniques that were once only employed by the couture designers of Europe.

From gorgeous long silk gowns to intricate lace cocktail-length skirts, Sue Wong dresses will make any woman feel beautiful no matter what the occasion. With amazing quality and unique designs, you are sure to find the perfect dress to bring out your inner goddess.
