SINE – a new brand and incarnation from the creators of Parameter. Sophisticated, strong and feminine, SINE blends uptown complexity with a cool, downtown sensibility, creating a synthesis of seasonal trends, interesting shapes and elegant silhouettes.
Under the guidance of Creative Director, Maytal Sharifi and Designer Sohee Kang, SINE takes an elevated approach with fine finishes such as full silk linings and French seams; luxe and high tech fabrics such as coated linens and silk; and contemporary detailing such as custom designed belts, covered buttons and jewel applications.
The debut collection for Spring Summer 08 is based on an exploration of one of today’s most relevant couplings – natural vs. synthetic. The theme is played out through the pairing of natural fabrics such as cotton, silk and linen with artificial, metallic and plastic coatings and weaves.
As a collection, the look is a little haughty and refined yet edgy and thoroughly modern. A belted high-waisted A-line skirt looks sexy but prim paired with a sheer, puff-sleeved button down with miniature pleating details; and a white wide-leg pant suit with a square necklined jacket with double breasted closure is breezy and intrinsically glamorous.
Pleating, ruffles and draping are prominent throughout the Collection, giving the structured high waists, shift shapes and belted waistlines a sense of ease and movement. And, while dresses reign supreme, perfectly tailored mini shorts and a-line skirts create a forum for the array of soft, feminine tops.
Luxurious and unique fabrics play a key role throughout this debut Collection, the star being linen coated with a synthetic print to resemble ostrich skin. Also noteworthy is the buttery Japanese techo-fabric that is engineered to feel like silk; and linen that is lightly coated with copper. Natural definitely versus synthetic in cotton weaved with plastic and metallic woven into herringbone.
The palette for spring summer 08 is classic and refined. Grounded in white and various shades of grey, the collection favors nautical colors of blue and red in numerous forms, and is punctuated with black. Cameo appearances of aubergine and coral lift the collection, creating a complex and sophisticated color composition.
