Designing Sisters Estee & Sharon -- Secrets of Charm

Secrets of Charm founders, Estee and Sharon Elkayam are sisters who are passionate about fashion-forward style. Raised in Miami, Florida, both have a strong background in fashion and design. Estee spent several years in wholesale marketing at Calvin Klein and Barbara Bui. Sharon studied architectural design at the University of California at Berkeley and later worked as a designer at Ralph Lauren in men's and women's denim, Blue Label and RRL.

Together, the sisters realized a childhood dream and founded Secrets of Charm in 2004. With references to art, film, vintage clothes and popular culture, the designs address the desires of the young fashionable female consumer. Secrets of Charm's philosophy is that the pieces are eye-catching, and wearable. The appeal is the delicate marriage of fragile fabrics and retro tailoring on exclusive prints and alluring fabrications. The resulting contemporary designer collection is a line of girly, sexy, fun and pretty tops, bottoms and dresses.

Celebrating its third year in business, Secrets of Charm has showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, and is available in over 50 specialty stores nationwide. The Fall 2006 Collection, inspired by the film "A River Runs Through It", debuted at Olympus Fashion Week in New York this past February. For Spring 2007, the sisters were motivated by the dreamy nostalgia of Ingmar Bergman's film classic, "Wild Strawberries," and will premiere their collection in the screening room at SoHo House during Olympus Fashion Week on September 6.

Estee and Sharon's inspiration for their company's name is a deeply personal one. Their much-admired grandmother, Helen Pegalis is the epitome of the 1954 classic book, "Secrets of Charm" by John Robert Powers and Mary Sue Miller. The girls even chose a drawing of a woman she created in 1935 as the logo. Thus, Secrets of Charm was born.
