Biography of The May Fire

Thereís something about The May Fire that grabs you by scruff of the neck. Perhaps itís the cowbell chug or brilliantly fuzzy guitars that demand your attention. Or maybe youíre lured in by a voice that slithers like a lustier Patti Smith or Kim Deal. Whatever compels your ear, it doesnít take more than a few notes to realize youíre in the presence of a band that knows how to meld Indie Rock, simmering ache & indestructible pop chops into just the kind of ear candy youíve been craving.

The May Fire founders El Pipe (pronounced ďel peepayĒ) and Catty Tasso met in L.A.ís alternative rock scene in 2004, and moved to San Francisco a year later to join efforts with Nachito on guitar and Rob Gwin on bass. Their sound carries happy echoes of modern practitioners like Stereo Total, Jack White and Queens of the Stone Age as well as older voices like David Bowie, The Stooges and The Pixies. They channel these ancestors to stunning effect on their raucous Right And Wrong, an immediate, sassy debut full of grimy twists & breathless adrenaline pumped gems.

In 2007 the band hit the studio again, with the goal of independently producing a trilogy of EPís, two of which, Plastic Army, and La Victoria have been completed and released by the time of this writing. Somehow, this hasn't kept them from playing steady shows from Los Angeles to Seattle, and making TV appearances on Pepsi Promueve and MTV3's Indie 101.

Originally hailing from Chile (Cat), Colombia (El Pipe and Nachito), and Connecticut (Rob), The May Fire brings different seasonings to edgy, pop-laden rock. Their music shimmers with sweaty intent, a gorgeously rough & tumble glam slam thatís felt as much as itís heard.

"A charismatic appeal and energy that is undisputable ... it's quite apparent that there's no end in sight for the young band" -- Zero Magazine

"A fearless maturity and an unrelenting tone that achieves both an aggressive punch and an acutely sensiti
