Biography of LoveLikeFire

San Franciscans LoveLikeFire have a lot to be thankful for. Their quietly released debut EP Bed of Gold (July, 2006) and restless gigging about the West Coast quickly caught the attention and glowing praise of local institutions such as the LA Weekly, The Onion, and San Francisco Magazine. They also coaxed the ears of individuals like producer Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, The Sounds) and engineer Reto Peter (Modest Mouse). Both contributed to various songs on LoveLIkeFire's forthcoming release An Ocean in the Air. Not bad considering they came together by chance.

A bout with indecision, a carefully placed classified ad, and the dissolution of former bands brought LoveLikeFire together in Early 2006. Founding Members Ann Yu (Vocals, Guitar) and David Farrell (Drums, Bass, Keys) were planning a move South from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Both had quit their respective jobs, put notice in on their apartments, and were ready to skip town when they duo found an appealing ad placed by Ted Parker (Guitar, Piano). After the three met, the move to L.A. was immediately canceled. The final piece of the puzzle came together, after the band had already begun playing shows and recording, when bass player Robert Kissinger's former band broke up. Through mutual musician friends, he was put in contact with Yu. The quartet meshed and got to work.

Their first release, Bed Of Gold, is an expansive and vibrant take on dark, rhythmic pop music, and laced with shades of atmospheric squall. At times steadfast, and at others arcane, it's the sound of a young band reaching for huge ideals.

Their latest effort, An Ocean in the Air, is more urgent, and layered with depth and an emotional vulnerability that intimately reaches for the listener. Marching orchestrations, old cowboy westerns, and striking melodies lay the foundation for this moody quartet's newest mini-album of songs.
