Biography of Jenna Nicholls

"Born and raised in a rural area outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Jenna was exposed to folk music at an early age by her father, David, who played and sang in the community church. It was during that time that she learned to play the piano, and then later picking up the guitar. During her early twenties, Jenna began singing jazz with Blue Note artist, Jimmy Ponder. She soon developed her own unique singing style/ guitar playing incorporating jazz and traditional folk music. Her vocal style is reminisent of Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, and Emmy Lou Harris. Her talents have allowed her to play with such artists as the late Chris Whither, Nouvelle Vague, and The Hot House Flowers. Most recently, she has been added to the roster of Fairplay Collective, an Irish based songwriter support system with others such as Brendan O'Shea, Michael Brunnock, and Mark Dignam." She currently resides and performs regularly in NYC. Her debut release is expected in October or 2007.
