Designer Bio: Rhonda Spogli for Misile

Rhonda Spogli, the owner/designer of Misile, began her career immediately after receiving her degree from AIFL. Spogli spent 5 years as assistant designer at Hickey Freeman Company, an upscale suit manufacturer in New York. Her experience in tailored, high end fashion has carried over into her present line where she employs olde world quality and charm into modern, edgy pieces. This is evident in the hand finished detail found on many of her pieces.

Spogli is currently planning to move the company’s headquarters to Los Angeles in the summer of 2006, adding “ We will continue to create the same edgy, high end merchandise our customers love and expect from us.”

Company Bio: Misile

Misile was launched in early 2003. The concept behind the independent design company was to produce an ultra contemporary line while remaining sweatshop free. Misile does not mass producing any of their merchandise. Owner/ Designer Rhonda Spogli spent 5 years as the assistant designer at Hickey Freeman in New York, an upscale suit manufacturer, immediately after receiving her design degree from AIFL. Her experience in tailored, high end fashion has carried over into her present line where she employs hand finishing, exceptional quality and charm into modern, edgy pieces.

Misile merchandise can be found in boutiques from New York to LA, but has recently been gaining a bit of popularity overseas with boutiques in Sydney and the U.K added to their list of retailers. And although volumes have increased since it’s inception in 2003, 4 years later all Misile merchandise is still proudly being produced in Spogli's upstate New York studio. Spogli adds, " Opting to keep the line sweatshop free has meant unbelievably long hours during hectic peak seasons, but the gratification of actually taking the high road out weighs the sleep deprivation."
