The question: I am curious about what style of shoes would I wear with leggings, a jean skirt and layered tops and layered necklaces what to wear on the bottom is my only problem? Please help me shoeless in Chicago.

How funny, I’m wearing leggings right now! Perfect for winter. I prefer to wear some cute flats with leggings to ward off that flash dance feel. But the outfit you described in your email sounds adorable! Try some ballerina flats or some pointy leather ones. I really like the monochromatic look that’s going on right now, the more subtle colors that could blend in with most outfits. Don’t worry about matching colors this season (especially your shoes), but rather begin with a clean, simple color palette and add in an accent color that seems slightly contradictory. So, if your leggings and skirt outfit is more neutral, go with a bold-colored flat or an accent piece like a simple bright necklace to give a personal touch to the somber palette thing this season.

Knitted, fishnet, textured, or lace stockings under your jeans (cropped or ripped ideally), skirts, and shorts. They look particularly cute peeking out of the tops of boots and are a great companion to a round toe shoe.
