"Crisp navy and white with a splash of red is spring's new seaside chic."

Ships Ahoy!
Fresh nautical looks on the horizon this Spring!
We just pulled in our nets and found the Nautical look to be ever so fresh! Though the nautical look is suggested for nearly every cruise season, this time it feels right (licking finger and testing the wind). No need for a yacht or even an ocean in sight! Salty windswept hair and sun-kissed cheeks make spring worth the wardrobe revamp. The key to nautical-hampton-esque-fabulosity is subtle glamour, confidence, and clean lines.
Start with your Classic American ensemble items as a base, and then accessorize your steeze up to Kennedy status.
We went totally overboard for these styles! Reel them in at CoutureCandy
The Base Essentials:
- The crisp cotton dress shirt (oversized, a’ la just nabbed from your boyfriend’s cabin)
- The perfect fitting Bermuda short or smart cigarette pant
- No fuss fresh makeup and sea salt hair (i.e. textured, "wind" blown, tousled)
The Fun Stuff:
- Silk scarves: Look for second-hand or splurge on newbie lightweight silk scarves with a glam pattern or designer label (just imagine the street cred among your fellow socialites). A square knot around the neck, in your hair, or casually tied on the bag will impress your fair-weather friends.
- Baubles and dangles for your bag, wrist, and neck like flashy anchors, tennis bracelets, and chunky link bracelets. Oversized, long and gold chains will add a certain posh decorum to your favorite leather bag or peeking out between shirt buttons.
- The too-tall wedge. With the rest of your ensemble mother-in-law-approved, its time to tart up the caviar luncheon with a little length in the leg. Wedge heels are easy to clomp around in... ideal for wobbly sea legs!
- The Jackie Onassis I-can-see-you but-you-can’t-see-me through-my-wrapped-Italian-designer-sunglasses. Splurge on the most obscene shades you can find -- they’ll last all year and protect your eyes from UVA, UVB, and paparazzi.
Stylist Challenge of the Week
"The question: My birthday is in a month. What would you suggest I buy, or what is a important must have for spring? I am a pretty casual person, basically I wear jeans and C&C tops, juicy hoodies, and uggs! so maybe something alittle different would be great! Thanks so much! -Angie"
Dear Angie,
Well happy soon to be birthday! The look for spring is very refreshing and fun. Here are a few key pieces that are "must haves" for spring!
- Slim fit trousers and jeans
- Nautical Stripes!
- A chunky heeled shoe (wedge, wood, super platform heels)
- Neutral colors like brown, tan, nude, and white (be careful with tan colors, more flattering to wear on bottom unless you are very dark skinned)
- Things with rope inspiration (rope tie shoes, rope straps on tanks and dresses, rope as a belt)
- Simple shift and button down dresses
- A super-wide belt to wear at the waist
- Invest in a cute pair of flats with an interesting detail (round toe, pointy toe, embellishments, ties, texture, color)
- An ultra-long necklace (a simple one in gold or silver, not boho style)
- Big slouchy luxurious leather purse
- Tailored pieces
I hope these suggestions inspire you! We are going to be getting new spring merchandise in over the next month so keep checking in. Please feel free to email us anytime with any style questions!
