DESIGNER OF THE WEEK: Erica Anenberg

Erica Anenberg's unique approach to jewelry design has been turning heads since her line's debut in 1999. A celeb favorite, her distinctive style combines a clever humor and minimal aesthetic to create memorable pieces. For instance, a Braille series includes raised dots with saying like "Love is Blind" and "Love at First Sight". Another features carefully crafted charms that look like the real thing only in precious metals like life-size soda pop tops, bolts, nails and screw drivers. For more feminine pieces, we love the charming stars, hearts and doves.

Erica began her creative studies at Cal State University Northridge Fine Arts, later studying Glass at Pilchuck in Seattle and lastly, jewelry design at Otis Parsons. Her must-have trinkets, rings and bracelets are sold in esteemed stores all over the United States including, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Maxfield. She was asked to design a keepsake for the 1999 Emmy awards and a year later she was approached to create the official Emmy parting gift. Press seems to follow Erica everywhere but celebrity fans like Courtney Cox, Pink, Lenny Kravitz and Drea Dematto love wearing her signature pieces.

Erica has been featured several times in InStyle, Blender, People and Angelino Magazines. Check out the very latest from Erica Anenberg at CoutureCandy!

STYLE TIP: Dressing-down to Dress-up!

It seems the underlying mantra of today's fashion is "Don't look as if you tried" or more succinctly, "Effortless". Like a Juergen Teller portrait (think gritty Marc Jacobs ad), except the new "effortless" isn't in the vein of Audrey or Jackie O, no, not immaculately put-together, nails manicured, hat placed just-so. This time around it's what I call the "Breakfast Club Look" (having nothing to do with the film, but looking more like an L.A. starlet nursing a hangover with a gigantic latte complete with Aviator frames and IT Bag).

It seems tousled, unruly hair, vestiges of last night's makeup and a boyfriend's favorite shirt is the freshest ensemble about town. Where exactly am I going with this? Oddly, to eveningwear--the fine art of dressing up to look as if you never even dreamed of dressing up for said-occasion. One of my favorite tricks among fashionista event-goers is plucking the most white-tie worthy gown from the closet and rocking the sparkly frock like a silly piece of dirty laundry!

It's all about dressing down your dressiest piece. Pair an ultra-casual shoe with a cocktail dress (Converse, work boots or dare I say cowboy boots?) is an enchanting paradigm. Cinch the silk gown with a worn leather belt. Top your crown with a vintage hat that's seen better days. Layer an old concert tee under a strappy dress. Of course, there's always the no-fail pairing popularized by thousands of runway models-turned-NY-scenesters: The fitted leather bomber jacket.

Whatever your approach, dressing-down to dress-up takes a bit of creativity but a lot less time, how effortless!

CELEBRITY STYLE BLOG: TALK ABOUT A LOT OF HYPE FOR NOTHING!

In a world where a sighting of Jennifer Aniston is as rare as spotting the Easter Bunny, it was nice to see Jen enjoying a nice day in Beverly Hills by walking her white German shepherd on March 19. Usually pretty wary of being caught by the paparazzi, Jen made no attempt to shield her face with her Smartwater bottle (her usual means of hiding) and let the paps snap away. Wearing straight leg jeans with a basic long sleeve tee, Tom Ford sunglasses, a faceted topaz necklace, crystal bead earrings and a slouchy black bag (much like Mary Kate's!), Jen looked casual and cool exhibiting her trademark low-key style.

Although Jen has been keeping a pretty low profile lately, last night was the heavily anticipated episode of friend Courtney Cox's show "Dirt" in which the girls were slated to share a lip-lock that was rumored to be very passionate and scandalous. Just like anything that has a lot of hooplah, the kiss was totally overhyped! I mean, this peck wouldn't even make my granny blush. I want my money back! Wait a minute, I didn't pay to see this... and I'm glad I didn't! Check out the smooch here, but don't get your hopes up.
