CELEBRITY STYLE BLOG: talk about the perfect role

Ever since her jaw-dropping beautiful appearance at the Academy Awards, Reese Witherspoon has been flauntin' it, as seen here shopping in Santa Monica on February 26th. Reese made a few purchases, wearing a pair of slender black jeans with a black cardigan, white blouse, and long gold necklace. One thing for sure, while Reese was on her little shopping spree, cute kids, Deacon and Ava, were not at home with a nanny! Reese has made it clear in interviews that she and Ryan never hired a full-time nanny, because "we weren't the kind of children that were shadowed. We didn't have nannies. We didn't have housekeepers. This whole Los Angeles culture is so foreign to me." Spoken like a true Southern belle!

Ironically, Reese is currently one of the top choices for the lead in the adaptation of the highly popular book "The Manny". If she nabs the role, Reese will play the role of a super successful business woman who falls for and then seduces her children's male nanny! The author of the book, Holly Pearson, explains how she would "love to see Reese in the part. The lead character Jamie Whitefield is very successful but she's very likeable too, and someone you can relate to. Reese has those qualities." She sure does!

DESIGNER OF THE WEEK: Kushcush

Designer Kerry Cushman has a knack for whipping up delightful must-have bikini numbers that make summer seem just around the corner. Her ultra-flattering bubblegum-meets-50'-pinup creations look as amazing on real women as they do sauntering down the runway (how refreshing!). The line's youthful aesthetic embraces a candy-colored-palette full of fun attitude and daring new styles. Details like tiny ruffles, sweet embroidery and braided belts set the line apart from the usual swimwear.

Cushman started Kushcush in college after studying Fashion PR in London. While abroad, she volunteered at London's Fashion Week where her design passion was piqued and the concept behind Kushcush was born. After founding the line with Husband Angelo, the designing duo has never looked back. In 2004 their fashion-forward swimwear won the coveted Gen Art, "Fresh Faces in Fashion" award and debuted during LA's Fashion Week to great applause.

Kushcush has been featured in the pages of fashion publications including, W, Marie Claire, Swim, WWD and Apparel News. Her fans include a bevy of Hollywood's IT girls including, the Hilton sisters, Nicole Richie and Jessica Biel. Sweet like apple pie but with the bite of a frosty margarita, we adore Kushcush anytime of the year!

STYLE TIP: Jet Set Fret

Alas, the days of hopping on a flight with only your paper ticket and a smile is sadly a thing of the past. Now it seems losing your shoes and/or cuticle scissors to Helga-the-TSA-body-cavity-searcher is the very least sacrifice required to get out of Dodge. This year the situation got hairier when the government turned on cosmetics! Good thing CoutureCandy is here to sort out the carry-on conundrum with this week's style tip!

First, the ground rules based on U.S. restrictions*: All of your carry-on cosmetics must be packed in a one-quart clear plastic bag (translation: Ziploc and the TSA best friend forever). All gels, liquids, creams and yes, even solids must be three ounces or less. Egads!

What to stash in your clear bag:

  • Lip Balm and Lip Gloss: Unless you have some weird Donatella-sized lip-gloss this item should come in way under 3 oz.
  • Moisturizer: Find a travel size face moisturizer. This serves double duty for dry hands etc.
  • Face Cleansing Cloth: We recommend a moisturizing cleansing cloth, perfect for washing your face without dealing with the lavatory accordion door thingy.
  • Travel Deodorant: Your fellow passengers will thank you.
  • Eye Drops: Choose a lubricating eye drop that's close to natural tears. Products that "get the red out" can actually dry eyes more than when you started at takeoff. Most drops are available in individual .01 oz plastic droppers.
  • Eye Cream: conveniently already in a minute container.
  • Cream Blush: A natural hued cream blush (less than 3oz.) is perfect for adding some color to cheeks and lips plus, you don't need to bring a separate blush brush.
  • Travel Toothbrush and Toothpaste: Better than using your finger and cuter too.
  • Dissolving Breath Strips: Enough said.

More Carry-On Necessities:

  • Inflatable Neck Pillow: Saves room and you can catch a wink without drooling on your co-pilot.
  • Earplugs: Worth their weight in gold when the situation arises. We like the kid-friendly ones, they come in bright easy-to-spot colors and they are softer and comfier than the grown-up version. Just don't wear them during take-off or landing.
  • Socks: keep your tootsies warm and avoid the whole Britney-bathroom-look.

So no matter your destination, keep you posh little clear bag on hand and leave Helga to pick on someone her own size! Oh and, FYI: gel-filled bras are kosher as long as you wear them onto the plane, your tax dollars hard at work.

*European travel restrictions are a bit more lax but only by a metric sneeze. Stick to the U.S. restrictions and you can fly anywhere. A'la
