Marnie Rocks Biography

Marnie Rocks's Biography

If you don’t know, you better ask somebody! Stylish, discerning women across the country can tell you….Marnie Rocks is a lifestyle store for jewels, home and tots!

Houston native, Marnie Greenwood never dreamed when a friend asked to buy one of her creations off of her neck in 2001 that she would be where she is today. She is heading a million-dollar company and defining style for celebrities and fashionable women throughout the country. Marnie’s simple, chic designs transcend time and trend while fitting into almost any lifestyle. In addition to jewelry, MR also offers a line of python handbags, rain wear for women and girls, infant crib bedding and unique home furnishings. In other words, whatever Marnie likes, Marnie rocks.

The Marnie Rocks name and lines have grown steadily along with the company’s retail returns. The company will post sales this year of over 1 million dollars continuing the 100% increase it has posted every year since its inception in 2001. All without an official retail location until April of 2007. Her designs were sought after by women who knew; and they found her in a tiny River Oaks studio. The brand continues to grow through monthly press recognition in national magazines as well as invitations to host green room booths at both the Nickelodeon Kids choice awards and the MTV Movie Awards in 2007.

Marnie Rocks started 2008 with a bang by traveling to The Sundance Film Festival as one of 10 chosen companies to be in the official Style Lounge for celebrities. Bypassing a standard 5 year waiting list, MR also debuted as a chosen vendor for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Accolades and publicity, however, do not make a brand or a company worth doing business with and Marnie Greenwood “gets it.” Marnie has seized the opportunity with her growing business to give back through her involvement with various charitable organizations. The Young Survival Coalition and MD Anderson Pediatric Cancer Hospital are two recipients of her generosity. With the YSC, Marnie designs a different breast cancer line each year with proceeds benefiting the organization. This past year Marnie Rocks was able to gain national attention to this cause through her pink “peace, love, cure” t-shirts; which were photographed on the backs of celebrities Brooke Shields, Regina King, Maria Menounos and Jessica Alba. The YSC campaign and Marnie were featured in November’s Fitness magazine in a profile of Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller.

Last fall the Marnie Rocks team started a program with the MD Anderson Pediatric Outpatient Clinic in Houston called “I’m Beading Cancer.” Marnie came up with the idea and it was enthusiastically embraced by the hospital. She and her team visit the clinic once a week and spend time making jewelry with the patients and their families. The beading provides a much-needed distraction for both parent and child and has been a rewarding experience for all involved. In 2008, we plan to expand the program nationally.

Our customers often say that shopping at Marnie Rocks is a fun, exciting way to bring a bit of the “Marnie Rocks Lifestyle” home with them. Her fans also love what Marnie stands for in fashion and in life. This is just what Marnie would want them to say; this I know for sure.
