Designer and founder Lotta Stensson came from a long line of designers and has fashion design in her blood. As the daughter of a successful Swedish fashion designer and the granddaughter of Sweden’s most prestigious designer, Katja of Sweden, Lotta grew up sewing and draping clothing instead of playing outside like the other kids. She continued her education by working in her grandmother’s design studio in New York City and attending the Fashion Institute of Technology where she received her degree in fashion design. Working as an assistant to various designers and gaining the knowledge and skills she would need to create her own line someday, Stensson was able to create the Lotta Stensson collection from two sewing machines out of her New York City apartment at the very young age of 26. After selling her collection to Barney’s, Intermix, and other top shops and after just three years in business, fashion editors from Vogue, Elle, and WWD voted Stensson the Upcoming designer for Fall 2000 at Mercedez Benz Fashion Week. In 2000, Stensson moved her business to LA where she opened up a flagship boutique to serve her celebrity clientele including Charlize Theron, Madonna, Beyonce, and Jessica Simpson.
Inspired by fabrics, colors, and embroideries of far away lands, Lotta Stensson creates her own hand-embroidered fabrics, tie dye’s and batik’s, and hand-drawn prints. Using beautiful and soft silk fabrics, Lotta Stensson dresses are sexy, feminine, and easy to wear. An upscale and glamorous version of a boho style, these chic clothes are easy to dress up or down; to wear for a day at the beach or a night on the town. I will personally be keeping my eye out for a Lotta Stensson sale with hopes of filling my closet with a “lotta” Lotta. Keep your eye out for a sale today or look through our entire collection of dresses to find the perfect match for your style!
