Lamarthe Handbags Biography
Lamarthe Handbags's Biography
In 1930, Alfred Lamarthe founded his eponymous luxury leather goods company in the heart of Paris. After patenting several accessories innovations, Lamarthe opened his first boutique in 1936. He quickly acquired a loyal clientele of some of the most fashionable women in France. He believed firmly that his creations must be as functional as they were beautiful, a standard to which Lamarthe products have been held for over 75 years.
In 1996, the Finduck Group, owners of the Mandarina Duck brand, purchased Lamarthe. Eight years later Mario Gardini, former President of Mandarina Duck, along with a group of private investors purchased Lamarthe from the Finduck Group. Lamarthe is scheduled for a public offering on the Paris Stock Exchange in 2006.
Today, Lamarthe handbags and accessories are some of Europe’s top sellers. Lamarthe boasts two monobrand boutiques in Paris, two in Spain (Barcelona and Valencia), and one in Shanghai. Lamarthe is also sold in some of the world’s top department stores including Le Bon Marché, Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, El Corte Inglès, Isetan, and David Jones. During 2006 Lamarthe plans to expand retail distribution within the United States and Canada.
