Eisbar's Biography

BACKGROUND

After traveling the world and practicing law for over two years, Los Angeles native Bobby Benveniste sought to create a totally new clothing experience for men. But with no design training, who could translate Benveniste's ideas into reality? Enter Otis Graduate Kiernan Lambeth. With several awards and a prestigious Nike internship under his belt, Lambeth spent the next year at denim innovator Earl Jean. After a stint with Rock and Roll couturier Henry Duarte, Lambeth joined forces with Benveniste to launch Eisbar. After countless requests for a women’s line, EISBAR launched its first women’s collection in the Spring of 2003. As of July 2005, Eisbar has welcomed the addition of highly awarded Otis graduate Stefanie Anderson, operations director Zyzick Owens, women’s designer Gina Hall (of Lacey J fame) and communications director Gina Nguyen.

Fall 2005- -Disheveled Royalty

We have been pushing the punk rock prep look for a while and it looks like fashion has finally come around to Us. But instead of just offering the usual suspects we are pushing out our ideas in new territories. Imagine if you will a prince and a princess (or a duke and a duchess, a baron or a baronette etc) with houses in poshest of places: perhaps London or Paris, A downtown loft in New York, A beach pad in L.A. and a summer getaway in Rio. They have a certain f***-you attitude—they have tattoos, listen to the latest in rock n roll and aren’t afraid to get dirty. They are as comfortable at an Oxford mixer as they are in a mosh pit (and the VIP room) at an Interpol concert. They have their punk empires—they own the scene wherever they go, not by virtue of their moneyed bloodlines but by their punk attitude. This imaginary character has roots in all these places and in effect has NO roots. Every few months they are off to their next abode and having to adjust their way of dressing—however they always reference where they have been. You can’t quite place where they are from.

They got the prep thing from Europe—but mix it with the downtown New York thing. Of course they have the Cali vintage beach thing and the slouchy and colorful attitude of the Carioca (Brazilian for dweller of Rio). It’s the ultimate form of high low dressing. T-shirts that have been washed within in an inch of their lives topped with jackets and pants that are cut with a bespoke attitude and washed for the ultimate in one-of-a-kindness. We wanted to create that haphazard way of dressing that the truly confident can pull off— it looks like nothing was thought over too much but at the same time each hole, each stain and each dangling thread is there for a reason. They are disheveled—but at the same time perfectly put together.

Our color scheme is deep and rich, much like the antiqued tapestries and paintings you would find in these disheveled royalty’s residences. Greens, Bordeaux, charcoals, and velvety blues. Very posh but also very lived in. Of course no Eisbar collection would be complete with out our graphics… but this season we have also decided it was time to offer our tees WITHOUT graphics. While the vintage tee will always be an inescapable influence in the EISBAR line, it’s time to cleanse the palette. With everyone doing graphics we wanted to push the envelope and figure out how to make a t-shirt without a graphic still have a rock and roll attitude and feel. Wait until you see it.

American history; Music; Movies; Classic cars; The California lifestyle: the beach, the mountains; City life and street style: LA, NYC, London, Tokyo; Street art and graffiti; James Bond; Jet setters; Rock icons; Levi Strauss; Saville Row; La Dolce Vita; and the American spirit.

QUOTE

Take the traditional into the 21st century; innovate and update; modernize but always respect the roots. A little bit of prep, a little bit of punk and a lot of attitude, but of course always wearable.

CUSTOMER

An Individual for sure, confident, intelligent, ambitious, with a sense of humor and an intuitive sense of style. The Eisbar customer likes to be noticed but doesn’t need their clothes to do the talking for them.
