Launched in 2009, Decode 1.8 creates feminine and fun dresses for the stylish modern woman. Founder and Head Designer Hyun Jung Kim gravitated towards classical music and fashion from a very young age, pursuing a fashion design degree at a university in her native South Korea. After graduating, Kim stepped into her first job as a stylist as well as joining a local theatre company where she was able to sharpen her artistic skills as both a costume designer and actor. With the desire to continue her training, she moved to New York where she attended Parson’s The New School for Design and was able to jump into the fashion industry directly after graduation. In February of 2009, Kim decided to launch her own contemporary dress line with the idea of creating the perfect dress. And with features in Daily News, People, Lucky and Life & Style magazines and with a collection that is sold in specialty boutiques nationwide, it seems that Kim has succeeded.
