THE TWINS TAKE TOKYO

While some (okay, make that most) people don't understand Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion choices, there is no question that they are fearless on the red carpet. The twins stayed true to their fashion-forward nature as they made an appearance at the opening of Opening Ceremony in Tokyo, Japan on August 29. Both girls donned Maison Michel Fall 2009 lace ears, with Ashley opting for the Mickey Mouse Ears and MK choosing the Rabbit Ears. For their store-opening looks, let's start with Ashley. Ashley paired a long white coat (like LaROK's Marlena Coat in Cream) with The Row's fitted "Weatherby Dress" (check out similar options on CoutureCandy, like Ingwa Melero's slinky Charmeuse Sofia Dress in Black or Graham & Spencer's Sleeveless Techno Dress in Black) and Ralph Lauren tortoise shell sunglasses. Mary-Kate, on the other hand, chose a strongly textural Toga Fall 2009 black dress (try much more casual alternatives, like Tracy Reese's Georgette Chemise in Black or Zooey's Front Tulip Dress in Black) for her ensemble. Both of the twins went the Prada route for their accessories, choosing Prada Spring 2009 heels and Prada Fall 2009 bags (for a bag that is an understated mix of both girls' bags, try Carla Mancini's much more wearable Fringe Messenger Bag in Red).
