The Secession Artist Group is compiled of a small handful of artists and designers working together to create truly unique pieces of clothing.
It is the artists wish to remain a boutique company in order to maintain the hands on and personal feel which pours into their product.
This dynamic enables the artists to have strong relationships with the boutiques representing the line as well as providing the boutiques with very special items and services. Some of these include custom art installations hand screened tees by the artists themselves and store exclusive pieces.
The project was founded by Los Angeles based artist, Bryden Lanco. Coming from a Fine Art background and having done much freelance design for other lines and designers, Lando then partnered with fellow designer, Alex Kosters. Kosters, the former Director of Product Development for 575 Denim and he has also produced private label for companies including Reebox, Guess, and Marciano. The team has also recently taken on the up and coming young artist, Kume Tomokawa, from Kyoto, Japan.
Beginning in the summer of 2005, the artists began development of the line and have been busy putting on group art shows as well as filming a documentary series on the lives of the artists.
With the ability to have a company run by the artists themselves, free of employers or the thought of corporate demographics, the result is a product that is expressive and free.
