Mystery lovers, get excited – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s infamous Sherlock Holmes will be transitioned to the silver screen sometime next year. Canuck cutie Rachel McAdams just signed on to the project, attending a press conference in London on Oct 1 to announce the new flick, set to be directed by Guy Ritchie. Rach will star opposite Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock’s love interest from the novel A Scandal in Bohemia, with dreamy Jude Law portraying Holmes’ right-hand man, Dr. Watson. At the press gala, Rachel wore a lacy white strapless dress (for similar picks in a variety of fabrics, try Black Halo’s Strapless Bustier Dress in White, Sine’s Marilyn Dress in White or Gold Hawk’s Floral Eyelet Dress in White) with an elegant braided ‘do while teetering on sky-high beige pumps as she posed with her new co-stars and director. It’s been over a month since Rachel’s very public displays of affection with rekindled lover Ryan Gosling, and her appearances at recent press events sans bf have people talking. Especially when she was recently seen getting hot and heavy in Toronto again… hey, that’s not Ryan! Rachel was snapped doing some last minute re-shoots with her co-star Eric Bana for the film adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife, which should be out in theaters in December. If you haven’t read the best-selling book, don’t worry – Rachel recently told the press it’s not essential. “You have to go see the film with a very open mind that it will be different from the book, because you’re talking 400-some-odd plus pages, and squishing it down into 90 minutes.” The Wedding Crashers star went on to add that she’s a huge fan of the “amazing” book, but the movie centers on the love story at it’s core.
