Katie Holmes arrived on the set in Los Angeles on July 16 dressed like a conservative working type in the morning (right) and was escorted out with Tom in the evening (left) looking like… a tranny bag lady? Hmm, I’m not sure what to think about this mix of stage make-up and interesting fashion choices. If you like the cozy Flashdance look, pair Autumn Cashmere’s Racer Back Tank in Black and Woo’s Rosie Long Grandpa Cardigan in Heather Grey with a pair of loose trouser jeans like Deener’s Slacker Jean in Radon for a much cleaner look. And please, no nylons with open toed heels! Kat has been hard at work this week filming her guest appearance on Eli Stone, which hopefully explains the mystery get-up. The new cropped coif is also for the show, taking off a few more inches and adding in a few daring curls for the part – although I must say, with the sunglasses she seems to pull it off, in a classy suburban mom kind of way. The network has been quiet about Katie’s appearance on Eli Stone, but an ABC exec leaked, “It’s a great role for her. There is some singing and dancing she does. And she’s exquisite.” How refreshing! It seems Kat prefers theatrical gear lately, by the looks of her make-up and hair, perhaps she’s getting into character for her upcoming Broadway debut in All My Sons coming in September. TomKat will be relocating to NYC once rehearsals begin, living it up in a rented penthouse apartment and showing Suri all the sights of the Big Apple. From the start Katie’s role has sparked all kinds of drama, from uprooting other Broadway productions to vastly disappointing ticket sales. “Katie wouldn’t sign a long-term agreement with her show, which is why it’s the limited run that it is. They had to figure out how to make more money with the time they had with her,” a theater source said, explaining why A Chorus Line - currently starring Mario Lopez – was bumped to a different theater so they would have enough seats to accommodate Katie’s shorter stage run. AC Slater must be feeling burned! Will any of you be shelling out the cash to see Katie take the stage?
