Looking half posh fashionista, half conservative mom, Katie Holmes cupped a toasty beverage from Starbucks as she headed off to another day at the theater on Dec 3 in New York, NY. Even in LA it’s been cold lately, and I’ve been indulging in the special holiday drinks from Starbucks to warm me up just like Katie – how addicting is the peppermint mocha? Bundled up in long buttoned sweatercoat (Autumn Cashmere’s Double Breasted Cashmere Sweater in Pepper is decadently soft) over a black turtleneck (like PGD Style’s Jaclyn Cozy Turtleneck Top in Black) and bootcut jeans (try a classic like 7 For All Mankind’s Bootcut Jean in New York Dark), Katie added a simple grey scarf (perk up your winter look with something more exciting, like Raw 7’s Unicorn Scarf in Black) and black square toed pumps with chunky silver buckles. Drawing a little inspiration from Jackie O with her chocolate Birkin and round framed sunnies, I like the comfortable simplicity of this daytime look, but it could use a little color. Hope she’s not reflecting her dreary mood in her ‘fit! Katie has been looking pretty sullen lately coming and going from her apartment, and a disgruntled TomKat ex-employee recently shed light on a possible root of the problem: “Tom was the one who demanded Katie cut her hair. She cried when he made her do it. Once, when Katie was talking to another male actor after performance in All My Sons, a guard came over and whisked her away. Tom doesn’t like Katie talking to other men, especially in public.” I have to be skeptical because everyone hates their boss, but isn’t it a little odd that rumors continually surface about Tom’s controlling behavior? What do you think – is something going on here we’re not seeing?
