SEEING "THE EXTRA MAN" WITH AN EXTRA SCARF

Playing off a low-key look, Katie Holmes strolls the press wall at the premiere of The Extra Man in Park City, Utah on January 25 during the Sundance Film Festival. KH was in town – apart from Tom and the irresistible Suri Cruise – to promote her roles in the film above and The Romantics. While I think Katie looks cute in this wintery look, I have one small problem with it. Yes, it's Sundance and yes it's really cold, but can't you try a little harder on the red carpet – umm, wall – Ms. Holmes? Katie put her look together with a bulky black overcoat (try Suzabelle's Nicolet Trench Coat in Black) and distress washed skinnies (Hudson's Collin Skinny Jean in Harney have a similar faded look) tucked into black motorcycle boots (love the side buckle detail on Gwyneth Shoes' Pipen Boot in Black). KH didn't even remove her ivory beanie and matching scarf while posing for the press (add a little color to your 'fit with Whitney Kros' Striped Scarf in Red/Cream). What do you readers think of this look, is it acceptable for a casual film festival like Sundance or could she have tried a little harder to impress? Even with this questionable 'fit, Katie still pulls off the slightly mysterious, yet always sweet girl-next-door vibe. With two films set to release in 2010, I can't wait to see what's in store for Katie's rejuvenated silver screen career. Are any of you fans of her films?
