Animal lover Hayden Panettiere takes her new puppy out for a stroll while shopping on Melrose and getting her nails done on Sept 4 in LA. Battling the heat in micro mini shorts (if you have the legs to bare, try True Religion's Joey Cut Off Short in Medium Drifter) and a loose peasant top (opt for Karen Zambos' Caitlyn Top in Python) with flip-flops (like Twisted Heart's Big Heart Flip Flops in Navy) and a mahogany tote over her shoulder (check out Carla Mancini's Large Shoulder Bag with Lock Detail in Copper). What do you think of HP's casual end of summer 'fit? Hayden is known in Hollywood for her animal rights activism (her anti dolphin hunting protest in Japan earned her an arrest warrant 2 years ago), so it's no surprise to see her making a new furry friend. A little praise from PETA doesn't hurt either, but it's for HP's actions on the set of Heroes when a crew member pointed a leaf blower at noisy birds in a tree on set over the summer. The animal rights org quoted her as screaming, "What are you doing? How would you like someone to blow that thing inside your house?" at the man responsible. You tell 'em Hayden!
