PLAID PRESSED FOR TIME

Getting ready for a busy day, Katie Holmes heads out of her New York City apartment solo on May 25. K made a quick stop in the Big Apple on the way to the 2010 National Movie Awards with Tom, which she donned a striped maxi dress from her Holmes & Yang collection to walk the red carpet in. As Katie prepped to head over the Atlantic she headed out in a casual plaid shirt dress (like Joe's Jeans' Sexy Shirt Dress in Plaid) with easy leggings (try Splendid's summer essential Lycra ¾ Legging in Black) and a pair of buckled, studded ankle boots (check out Farylrobin's Ulysses Motorcycle Boot in Brown). It's been warming up in NYC lately, but Katie still layered up in a cropped black cardi (like Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Seamed Pocket Cardi in Black). As a final touch K carried a luscious textured leather bag (love the zip style of CC Skye's Olivia in Chocolate Python) and threw on a big pair of sunnies as she made her way around town. What do you think of Kate's casual look, does it work for her? K has been flying under the radar lately, spending some time with Suri between filming projects. Don't think she doesn't have her next move planned though – Tom just wouldn't have it! A source recently dished to E! Online about the infamous go-getter's personality: "Tom is one of the most goal-oriented guys I know. He never stops and chills. Ever, ever, ever—sitting around and just talking—never happens. You cannot just hang with him; he always has a plan of what to do next." Seems to be a strategy working well for the two of them!
