PLAID IN THE CITY

Looking as hippie chic as ever, Kate Hudson was spotted lunching at Grey Dog in New York City last Friday, May 1. Kate came to town for the Cartier 100th Anniversary celebration and didn't let the rain kill her spirits as she strolled with a friend through the West Village after lunch. Her pal was also wearing a flannel button-down and Converse sneaks with cuffed destroyed jeans - wouldn't you be a little irked if your friend copied your style right next to you? Then again maybe Kate is the copycat! Kate put her uber casual 'fit together starting with a blue plaid shirt (it has a completely different look, but I'm loving 3J Workshop's edgy take on the plaid trend with the Latvian Love Shirt in Brown Plaid) and faded bootcuts (Hudson's Signature Bootcut Jean in Viva are incredibly soft and comfy), trekking around the city in classic All-Stars with a chocolate suede fringed bag over her shoulder (check out Carla Mancini's Fringe Messenger Bag in Black). Adding her fav turquoise cuff, a flashy silver bangle (try Michele Michel's twisted Bracelet in Silver) and stealthy black sunnies, Kate looks like she's making a good recovery after the festivities from the night before. I would love this 'fit if she chose embellished sandals instead, but I'll admit my All-Stars are my fav shoes when it rains too. What do you think of Kate's urban hippie style? When she dresses as casually as this it's hard to remember Kate turned 30 last month. She's never one to turn down a party, and mama Goldie Hawn threw her quite the shindig at her Pacific Palisades mansion on April 17. Inviting celebs from Justin Timberlake (who Goldie supposedly thinks would be a great match for Kate) and Gwen Stefani to celeb couples Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren and Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. An attendee told People: “Kate was elated, dancing all night, having the time of her life – and she looked amazing in a very sexy little dress and Louboutin heels... She gave a very touching speech and spoke about how important her family is to her.” Apparently the party was such a hit the cops were called in to get the noise under control in the early morning hours. Hey, you only turn 30 once!
