Happy Halloween my dear CoutureCandy readers! I hope your holiday is spooky and safe. And now, to the gossip! Ashley Olsen strolled up to the Letterman studio for her appearance on The Late Show yesterday, October 30, looking polished in an all-black ensemble. Starting with a LBD (check out Beau Soleil's Beau Boat Dress in Noir) and a long black coat (like Holly's Button Knit Coat in Black), Ash finished off her look with long circle earrings (I'm sure Vevina Juji's Dark Chocolate Earrings in Silver are a little more wallet friendly than Ash's) and striking heels. Simple, sophisticated, and chic! Ashley was in NYC to promote her new book with Mary-Kate, "Influence," that I have yet to pick up (it's on my to-do list!). However, at a recent book signing at Barnes & Noble, an exciting day for many fans turned ugly. PETA protesters wore mocking troll masks and shouted at the twins outside of the event, and a spokesperson for PETA says, "People who still wear fur haven't woken up to the fact that a big, dead animal on your back makes you look like a troll. Compassionate fashionistas know that real beauty comes from the heart, something that the Trollsen Twins seem to lack, considering all the animals they've killed for their clothes." Ouch! What do you think, do you agree with PETA, or do you think MK&A should wear whatever they want (including fur)?

Lots of animals are now farmed for their pelts, just as they're farmed for your dinner plates, so unless you're a complete vegan and wear no leather or wool (shearing causes the poor sheep stress, you know) keep your mouth shut.guest on Nov 01 2008 @ 08:11 AM

Fur is wrong and disgusting. Animals are slammed againist pavement then hung upside down and peeled like a banana while alive and unconscience. It is sad and disturbing. The Olsens always look so classic-Hollywood-movie-star-glamorous and I love their furs. Very tasteful. PETA is bloody stupid about how they try to get their message (which makes no sense anyway) across.
