The always wonderfully controversial and fashionably-edgy Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted having a late lunch in West Village on January 5, and of course covered herself up from the prying flashbulbs of photographers. It really makes no sense to me why PETA hates MK so much, I mean, can anyone even remember the last time she was seen wearing fur? Ok, all kidding aside, I know that there is the ongoing debate of whether wearing fur is wrong, but MK doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks and just does her own thing. While I'm keeping my opinions on fur out of this, I do applaud MK for daring to go where others won't and staying true to her own sense of style. Spotted wearing a vintage-looking fur with a green silk Asian-inspired top (check out Walter's Charmeuse Bow Top in Emerald, or for a beautiful, Asian-inspired garment, check out 3J Workshop's Geisha Tunic in Natural), black skinny jeans (like Deener's Highwaist Cigarette Jean in Tar), black boots and rings galore (Rachel Leigh's Audrey Bow Ring in Gold is similar to the one MK is wearing on her ring finger), MK's look is either love it or hate it. And the infamous Mr. Blackwell definitely seems to hate it. He named Mary-Kate third on his annual Worst Dressed List, calling little MK "a tattered toothpick trapped in a hurricane". Harsh (but kind of hilarious)! Mr. Blackwell also decided to take pity on Britney Spears this year, saying, "I felt that it was inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheaval. I hope 2008 is a better year for her." How kind of him. What do you think though, who deserves to be higher on the Worst Dressed List, MK or Brit-Brit?

No, that's Mary-Kate. I personally love MK and Ashley's style pretty much always but this outfit doesn't grab me. I do like the jeans and boots though and I love the Lennon glasses!guest on Jan 12 2008 @ 06:54 PM
I believe in wearing faux whenever possible, but that's a personal decision - and I probably couldn't afford real! I love MK's style, but I'm not quite on-board with this ensemble.

Agreed with the person who said "Are you people kidding? You think bludgeoning domestic and wild animals than skinning them alive is ok? You're pathetic". Seriously, animals can feel all this pain. How about instead of making a coat out of the animal, let's make one out of YOU, still think it's OK?guest on Jan 17 2008 @ 03:46 PM
You can have your opinions on fur, but fact is that (and I have been to fur farms): it is a cruel, unneccesary business. And to that "smart" first comment: these animals are not "there", they are born to become fur. But whoever wrote that, can not be very intelligent anyway.
Wearing fur, you are showing you don't care and you support it. That is sad and irresponsible. You can look very stylish without cruelty (and yes, if you want you can go as far as not wearing leather either). People just prove over and over that they may look nice (or think they do) but have nothing in their brains or hearts.guest on Jan 20 2008 @ 05:39 AM
