Olivia Palermo (born February 28, 1986) is currently a cast member on the MTV reality television series The City. The daughter of a Connecticut real estate developer named Douglas Palermo, Palermo came to New York to attend the New School. She has been noted as a former socialite and has graced the cover of New York Magazine as the It-Girl in 2007. Palermo was born in New York and was raised between New York City and Connecticut. Growing up as an athlete, Palermo participated in sports such as ice hockey, skiing, lacrosse and tennis. She studied abroad in Paris before returning to New York to complete her undergraduate degree in Communications Studies at The New School. Palermo made her debut on the New York social scene when famed social photographer, Patrick McMullan began snapping pictures of her at events about town. She has since been featured in magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, InStyle, Life & Style and Ok! Weekly. Palermo worked in the public relations department for fashion label Diane von Fürstenberg in their New York City office. Since then, she has switched jobs to working at Elle Magazine. Palermo is a cast member on The City alongside Whitney Port. The show documents their lives along with other cast members in New York City. The series debuted on December 29, 2008. SOME THINGS (LIKE OLIVIA) NEVER CHANGE

Olivia Palermo seen on Oct 06 2009 in New York, NY. From one Olivia to another! "The City" star Olivia Palermo was spotted posing for photogs as she arrived at the PIX11 Morning News Show in New York on October 6 looking ladylike as always - I just wish she would work on her posture a bit! That picture on the left is positively hunched. For her morning show look, Olivia got creative with her ensemble, as she paired a longsleeve dusty rose dress (similar to Rachel Pally's Ramona Dress in Ash) under what seems to be a tweed corset top that she then belted (like Rough Roses' Leather Strap Belt in Black) and wore with an assortment of silver chain necklaces. For the rest of her outfit, OP toted a satin coat inside of a large tote (check out Carla Mancini's unique Whipstitched Tote in Taupe), and then picked a single stunning oversized gold ring (try Allison Daniel Designs' hilariously named Big Fat Mamma Ring in Gold). The finishing touches to her look were her curled, shiny locks and a demure pink pucker. What are your thoughts on Olivia's look here everyone, do you think she pulls it off? For those of you who are fans of Olivia's show "The City," you will be pleased to know that she hasn't lost any of her confidence (read: prickliness) that garnered her fans and haters in the first season. In fact, NY Magazine declares in an article, "Whitney Is Still a Pushover and Olivia Is Still Mean on "The City."' The mag says, "Olivia wears weird short shorts, lives in Tribeca, and doesn't seek to embitter America by moving like Whitney (that we know of). Olivia has a new job at Elle, where her boss Joe Zee isn't around enough to see how incompetent she is, while her other boss Erin refuses to put up with her bitchitude, stealing our hearts like a first true love!" What a hilarious assessment! What are your thoughts readers, do you agree with the mag's thoughts? And have you tuned in yourselves at all this season?

BUTTING HEADS

Olivia Palermo seen on Sep 05 2009 in New York, NY. "The City" star Olivia Palermo was spotted strolling around in downtown Manhattan with boyfriend Johannes Huebl during the afternoon hours on Saturday, September 5, and I have to say, Olivia is fast becoming one of my favorite fashionistas. Even when she goes for a casual look, she gets it so right. Olivia always adds an extra touch that takes her outfits to the next level, and I am bumping her up to the top of my list of ones to watch. Starting with a pair of metallic silver brogues (love, love, LOVE!), Olivia paired a white mini skirt (like Joe's Jeans' Ollie Skirt in White) with a simple, finely striped t-shirt (check out the dainty stripes in Splendid's Striped Jersey V-Neck Tee in Lilac, or for a tank top version, peep Rails' Deanna Striped Tank in Navy/White) and an oversized, light brown Chloe hobo bag (may I suggest Carla Mancini's Hobo Bag with Front Lock in Tan). Olivia completed her look with a few key accessories, starting with a yellow gold watch, a pair of enviable shades, and a midnight blue manicure. Seems that she's made the switch from summer to fall polish colors! While Olivia tends to stay out of the press when she has downtime in between seasons of "The City," I'm sure that once the series begins again, fans of the show will have no shortage of Olivia gossip to dish about. This season will chronicle Olivia working at her new job at Elle Magazine, and if you have checked out the trailer, you'll see that OP is already butting heads with Elle's Public Relations Director, Eric Kaplan. Sheesh, I will give this to the girl - she definitely has a personality that shakes things up!

STAYING OUT OF HEADLINES

Olivia Palermo seen on Aug 26 2009 in New York, NY. "The City" castmember Olivia Palermo made an appearance at Diesel's "Only the Brave" Concert, which was held at Capitale in Chinatown, NYC, last night, August 26, going for a sort of edgy-nautical look as she posed on the red carpet. Olivia chose a sailor-inspired red and white striped frock (for more casual striped options on CoutureCandy, check out Ella Moss' Laurel Dress in Mediterranean or James Perse's Stripe Drop Dress in Charcoal) that she paired with a white collared button-up (try James Perse's Button Down Shirt in White) that was accented by a navy silk bow and chunky chain necklace. For the rest of her look, Palermo chose an enviable black Chanel clutch (check out Zambos and Siega's Peggy Clutch in Black for a more wallet-friendly option), a silver braided bracelet (very similar to Accessories & Beyond's Braided Leather Bracelet with Magnet Clasp in Silver) and simple black ankle booties. She completed her look with a sophisticated, pulled-back hairstyle, a red manicure, and studded jewel earrings. What are your thoughts on Olivia's look everyone - do you love it or do you hate it? I can see the comments going either way on this one. Unlike some of her MTV contemporaries, Olivia tends to do a pretty good job of staying out of the headlines, and focusing on her current internship at Elle. It has just been announced that both the new season of "The Hills" and "The City" will premiere on MTV on September 29, and I'm sure many of you are anxious to catch the latest goings-on of Whitney, Olivia, Audrina, Lo, and the rest. Who out there can't wait for the new seasons to begin?

OLIVIA AND JOHANNES GOING STRONG

Olivia Palermo seen on Jul 28 2009 in New York, NY. The stunning Olivia Palermo was spotted making an appearance at the NYC premiere of the new film Adam, held at the AMC Loews 19th Street East Theatre on July 28. For her classy look, Olivia started with a black draped dress (check out similar options, like Generra's Cowl Neck Belted Dress in Black or Rachel Pally's similarly draped Fortuna Dress in Black, or for a more simple choice, try Splendid's Racer Dress in Black) with a grey-violet silk jacket, strappy black stilettos, a sequined clutch with chain detail (I like Julie K Handbags' Jessica Foldover Clutch in Night Exotic), and a firetruck red mani/pedi. What are your thoughts on OP's look here - are you a fan of her style? Personally, this girl can do no wrong in my eyes. For news on Olivia's personal life, it seems that she is still going strong with her boyfriend, German-born model Johannes Huebl. Introduced by New York socialite Daniel Benedict, the two have seemed to really hit it off, as Palermo has taken Huebl as her date to many a social function. While everyone knows that Olivia is sometimes shunned by NYC's premier socialite Tinsley Mortimer, might this coupling of two beautiful people be what it takes for her to finally be accepted into the upper-crust of New York elite? What do you think, readers?

A BUSY FEW DAYS FOR OLIVIA

Olivia Palermo seen on Jul 18 2009 in Miami, FL. "The City" star Olivia Palermo was spotted all over Miami recently, in town for Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week Swim, and was seen looking extra chic on July 18. For her sizzling summertime look, Olivia started with a pair of high-waisted black shorts (similar to Rails' Mila Short in Black) and tucked in a vibrant, printed blouse (try the similar silhouettes of Black Halo's Mischa Top in Print or Cake Couture's Florida-appropriate Lanai Square Neck Blouse in Cream Multi), and then kept her accessories and jewelry luxe and edgy. For her choice of handbag, Olivia grabbed a bright yellow clutch with chain detail (peep the similar hue of Antoinette Lee Designs' Dolcita Clutch in Yellow), and then paired a chain bracelet with an ornate necklace and large silver earrings. I'm ready for your two cents, readers - do you think Olivia knocked it out of the park on this one, or was it a foul? Staying true to her socialite reputation, Olivia made sure she was quite busy while in Miami, attending the Mara Hoffman show first, held at the Beachway at The Raleigh, and then checked out the Extra Life Lycra 2010 Fashion Show held at the Cabana Grande. Then the fashionista proved loyal to her employer, and was seen checking out an Elle-hosted after party held at the W South Beach. Such a busy girl! Earlier that day, Olivia was photographed filming a scene for her hit show with Whitney Port, as the girls were spotted grabbing a bite to eat in the sun. What do you think, is Olivia's often-lauded style overrated, or are you diggin' her?

CHIC IN THE CITY

Olivia Palermo seen on Jul 08 2009 in New York, NY. "The City" star Olivia Palermo was spotted looking ultra chic while running errands in the West Village of NYC yesterday afternoon, July 8, with a hand placed oh-so-nonchalantly in her right skirt pocket while the other held tightly to her BlackBerry. I am really feeling this outfit on OP - she is definitely a very beautiful girl and has chosen a very beautiful outfit for her day out and about in the city. Starting with a breathtaking oversized jeweled bib necklace (can you imaging how much that must weigh??), Olivia paired a nautical navy and white striped tee (try Rails' similar tank version, the Deanna Striped Tank in Navy / White) with a navy pocket skirt (Joe's Jeans' Ollie Skirt in White is a lighter option that is pretty much the perfect skirt for these hot summertime months) and black lace-up stilettos. Next, Olivia chose a multi-tiered nude coat (Walter's Structured Trench Coat in Khaki is equally as beautiful) and then accessorized with a petite gold watch, black sunnies, a huge cocktail ring (check out Femme Metale Jewelry's Snake Shell Ring in Pink), and a light grey bag with heavy metal silver accents. What are your thoughts, readers - are you as in love with Olivia's sophisticated and chic look as I am? While Olivia will be hard at work and focusing on her job at Elle Magazine for the upcoming season of "The City," a source tells Page Six that Olivia will be working in the magazine's publicity department. For those of you out there who are anxiously awaiting the second season of MTV's hit reality show, I told you a while back in an entry about Whitney that the network is intent on "spicing" the show up this season, and to do so, are bringing in a few new party girls to liven up the joint. Who out there will be tuning in?
