NOT LOVING THE RING?

Newly engaged Jessica Simpson makes some funny faces at the photogs after a late night landing in NYC with fiancé Eric Johnson on November 21. Jess flew into town for an appearance on The Early Show the following morning to promote her new Christmas album and dish about her engagement – more to come on that later! For her flight Jessica dressed in cozy neutral tones, layering up with a brown cardi (like Elizabeth Gillett's Imelda Dolman Cocoon in Brown), loose white tee (try Monrow's Seamed Oversized Tee in White), black leggings and espresso suede knee high boots (love Farylrobin's Elsbeth Platform Wedge Suede Knee-High in Taupe). Jess carried a monstrous leopard tote with her, adding a few mixed stone necklaces (like Amy DiGregorio's Truro in Coral) to complete the look. As you can see on her left hand, Jessica kept her sweater covering her new ring and kept her hand firmly tucked under Eric's arm. What's she hiding? Jess and Eric celebrated their engagement with a laidback party at her parents house on Thursday night, where sources say it was apparent Jess might not be so smitten with her unorthodox ruby ring. A server at the party (who is pretty much guaranteed never to be employed by the Simpsons again) told the paps she witnessed Jessica's insecurity at the party: "At one point, she asked one of the servers what she thought of the ring. When the server said it was beautiful, Jessica snapped, 'You don't mean that!'” Yikes! Whether or not she's as in love with the ring as she is with her man, Jess chatted on The Early Show about how surprised she was when Eric got down on one knee. In regards to the ring, she added: "I've already done the traditional thing. I wanted to do something that was different. Eric had a plan a long time ago, He had a [sit-down] with my mom and dad about it...He was a gentleman about it." With mom and dad on their side it looks like these soon-to-be-newlyweds are off to a good start – wonder if there will be a reality show accompanying them down the aisle??
