Enjoying a Saturday afternoon out with the fam, Christina Aguilera shops around in Hollywood on May 1 with her little man on her hip and husband not far behind. Mamaguilera loves her leggings, but this time she packed a little punch with biker inspired knee patches setting her apart (if you like the moto inspired patch detail, try Carter's Bullet Proof Skinny in Black). Next Christina layered an acid washed graphic tee (love the graphics on Monrow's Gingko Crew Short Sleeve in Black) with a cropped black hoodie (like Rails' Cooper Hoodie in Black), shuffling around in patent black ballet flats (similar to Coye Nokes' Amelia Ballet Flat in Black Embossed Python). Christina pulled her bleached blonde tresses back and covered up with big black sunnies, carrying the round theme to her oversized black cocktail ring (celebs including Paris Hilton love CC Skye's Blossom Ring in Black). What do you think of Christina's hard-meets-mod style, would you rock it or does it need a few tweaks? Christina happily headed out the day after the release of her heavily anticipated new single, "Not Myself Tonight," off her fourth studio album Bionic, hitting shelves this June. The racy new video is already drawing comparisons to Lady Gaga, which isn't a surprise – afterall, they're both blondes who like to push any and all buttons! Rap artist Akon was recently asked in an interview with Vibe to compare the two divas, which he responded at length: “Aw man, that’s not even any competition… You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.” I couldn't agree more! He continued, “Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with. I miss the old Christina Aguilera. I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.” Very well spoken! I actually think comparing them is giving Gaga a little too much credit.. Gaga is a marketing mastermind who can rely on visual effects but Christina is better musically - Gaga's songs are kind of empty with lyrics that are beyond dumb. I'm really tired of Christina getting called out as copying one person or another. There is an interview from way before Gaga got all blown up where she talks about going in a new direction, working with Zero 7, Moby.. can't remember all the details. Did anyone accuse Britney of copying her Circus theme from Back to Basics.. umm, no. It's always Christina, when she is the ONE who is actually talented. She is very talented.. I give her that... BUT so is Gaga... and it is sad that Christina feels she needs to create a new image to be better than Gaga... there is no need to do that when you have been around for years. Obviously she is going to be compared when she does a complete transformation out of nowhere and it clearly resembles that of lady gaga... she should be focused in bringing back what we have been used to for years, and maybe spicing it up a bit... but to be dancing around in thongs.. Im sorry honey that it not you and will never be you..if it would be in your image and personality to be like that.. as fans we wouldn't be seeing that just now after a decade... it clearly looks fabricated and very lady gaga like...guest on May 09 2010 @ 03:53 PM
