No lip synching for hil

No, this isn't Mary-Kate Olsen, it's just Hilary Duff doing her best MK impersonation. Spotted leaving a Beverly Hills Starbucks on January 27, 2008, it's clear who Hil's style icon du jour is. Going for the "just rolled out of bed yet still chic" look (and for the most part pulling it off), Hilary started her outfit with a purple knit cap and a pair of supersized shades (check out Nour's Moman Sunglasses in Street). Duff further accessorized with a pair of unique hoops (I'm totally loving Michele Michel Jewelry's Swarovski Hoops in Silver), a quilted Chanel bag and a huge set of keys (is Hil moonlighting as a janitor?). For her clothing, Hil opted for a faded blue hoodie (like Rails' Corado Pucker Hoodie Sweater in Dusty Blue) with a pair of dark, skinny jeans (similar to Deener's Charmer Skinny Jean in Helium). In case you haven't heard, Duff had an Ashlee Simpson-esque mini scandal earlier this month when, while performing in Mexico, she was seen silently singing into her microphone during a part of a song. "Faulty equipment" is allegedly to blame, with Hil's camp saying, "The microphone was faulty and she could clearly be heard singing by fans at the front of the stage. There was no sound coming out, but she was singing." Why is everyone always so shocked when singers are accused of lip synching? While certain singers who are more "seasoned" and have, let's be honest, better pipes than Duff and sing live, Hilary's shows are more about the performance and less about her voice, don't you think?
