No Doubt

No Doubt

In November of 1986, keyboard player and Anaheim, California local Eric Stefani joined forces with his friend, vocalist John Spence to form a band called No Doubt. Shortly after they formed, Eric's younger sister, Gwen Renée Stefani joined the group as a co-singer and the trio played their first show on New Year's Eve a month after being established. Basist Tony Kanal soon joined the band.

The next few years brought significant changes to the makeup of the group. John Spence committed suicide, leaving Gwen as the lead vocalist. They also picked up two new members, Tom Dumont (guitar) and Adrian Young (drums). In 1991, the band signed up with Interscope Records and put out their self-titled first album in 1992. In 1994, Eric Stefani left the band to persue his animation career and No Doubt went on to release their third album, Tragic Kingdom, which sold over 15 million copies. In 2001, they released a Jamaican-influenced album titled Rock Steady, which had two singles in the Billboard Hot 100.
