Arriving wrapped in shimmering gold fabric, Kate Moss embodied the theme "Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion" with perfection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala in NYC on May 4. Kate hosted the event this year with Justin Timberlake, Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour - love the representation of all things fashionable! I'm going to guess Kate was striving for the golden goddess look, selecting an asymmetrical mini dress with a decadent fluid drape and a long shoulder sash (try the asymmetrical look yourself with Cleo Brand's One Shoulder Dress in Navy or the Off Shoulder Wrap Dress in Burgundy). Kate was wise to choose a frock by Marc Jacobs, and looked like a perfect prism of opulence posing on his arm at the event. The makeup is a great complement too: dramatic shadow, bronzed cheeks and natural lips are the perfect match for the gold lame dress. Kate completed the 'fit with shiny YSL pumps, a few dazzling gem rings (check out Femme Metale's Carnelian Caged Gem Ring in Red or the Noble Fleur with Snow Quartz Ring in Silver) and a custom-made turban by milliner Stephen Jones in the same fabric. What do you think of the matching heels and the turban idea? Love that she took a huge risk with the metallic shine and pulls it off effortlessly (she is a supermodel, after all), but I'm not sure the hat is a good look for her... although it is perfect for the occasion! Kate's costume choice landed her at the top of The Huffington Post Best Dressed List, and might I comment on her toned gams - and remind you that she's a 35 year old mother! Inspiration for life.
