Avoiding the Oscar scene in LA, Katie Holmes heads out for a mellow Sunday with daughter Suri Cruise on February 27 in Vancouver, Canada. Tom has been filming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol north of the border for the past three months, with daughters Suri and Isabella staying in town. Katie and Suri have been big supporters of the local Starbucks, spotted picking up coffee and cupcakes at a nearby bakery before returning to their hotel. Katie dressed in a chic winter look, starting with a long sandy coat (check out Suzabelle's Hazelwood Coat in Winter White) with a black and white spotted Ann Taylor scarf (add a geo print like Lucky Brand's Wind Curled Scarf in Black), black skinny jeans (like J Brand's 901 Legging in Pitch) and a pair of black knee-high boots (love the lace-up detail on Farylrobin's Lance Knee-High Boot in Black). Katie completed her look with a pair of round sunnies channeling Jackie O, carrying a mahogany MaxMara "Margaux" handbag (get the look with Julie K Handbag's Robin in Cognac) possibly picked up after Katie attended the Milan fashion show last week. What do you think of Katie's mod mama style? Though Katie looks pretty happy here, she's going through some dirty legal drama with Star magazine right now. The 32 year-old actress is suing the mag for libel after they ran a coverstory with the headline "Addiction Nightmare: Katie Drug Shocker!" in January. The magazine alleged Katie is addicted to a device used in Scientology called an e-meter, which supposedly gives the user a euphoric sensation followed by a craving for more which is "the real reason Katie can't leave Tom." In a statement reported by the LA Times, Katie said: “Of all the fabricated stories that continue to be published about me, this instance is beyond the pale. [Star] knew this outrageous story was false and printed it anyway to sell magazines.” Take that, tabloids!
