Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992) is a Golden Globe and Critic's Choice Award nominated American singer, songwriter, and actress. Cyrus is better known for starring as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in the television series Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel. Cyrus became a sensation after Hannah Montana debuted in March 2006. Following the success of the show, in October 2006, a soundtrack CD was released in which she sang eight songs from the show. Cyrus's solo music career began with the release of her debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus on June 23, 2007. Her second album, Breakout was released on July 22, 2008. Breakout is Cyrus's first album that does not involve the Hannah Montana franchise. Both albums debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. In 2008 she released her Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert film which had the highest-grossing opening weekend for a film to be released under 1000 theatres. She also released Bolt in 2008, and recorded "I Thought I Lost You" for the soundtrack for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. Also, she has completed filming on the movie spin-off of Hannah Montana, titled Hannah Montana: The Movie which set to release on April 10, 2009. In addition, she has recorded the main single for the movie soundtrack "The Climb". In 2008, Cyrus was listed among artists and entertainers as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World.[11] Forbes magazine ranked her #35 on "The Celebrity 100" list with earnings of over US$25 million in 2008.

Miley Cyrus seen on Oct 25 2009 in Studio City, CA. Getting ready for Disney's Concert of Hope on October 25, Miley Cyrus and BFF Mandy Jiroux got their sushi fix at Sushi Dan in Studio City in the afternoon before the show. Miley stepped out in rock concert attire, paired a slinky LBD (like Lotta Stensson's Cowl Halter Dress in Black or Rachel Pally's Fortuna Dress in Black) with lace pattern tights and edgy motorcycle boots (try Farylrobin's Ulysses Motorcycle Boot in Black). Miley carried a zippered black jacket (check out Genetic Denim's The Fonda Motorcycle Jacket in Black Mirror) with a black tote complete with chains and buckles (I prefer Linea Pelle's versatile Dylan Folding Tote in Black). What do you think of MC's lunch time 'fit? I'm not a fan of the super long extensions, but I do think this is a cute and youthful look for her. Miley walked the red carpet at the concert later that night, held at LA Live!'s Nokia Theatre in downtown LA. In case you're interested, other young stars Demi Lovato and Jesse McCartney were in the house for the charity event. I'm not sure if it was at the concert or a different one, but Miley got in the Halloween spirit early and decided to spook some fans outside her dressing room while waiting to go onstage. Very cute to see her giving fans a chilling experience to remember!
Miley Cyrus seen on Oct 16 2009 in New York, NY. Proving that age ain't nothin but a number, Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrall film a scene in almost identical outfits for the upcoming Sex and the City 2 sequel at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre on October 16. Before I get into the 'fit, let me give you a little background info on the scene so you know why a 50+ woman would wear the same attire as a 16 yr old pop star. Samantha is set attend her long time beau (or ex?) Smith Jerrod's latest movie premiere, and buys a sexy little mini to impress him on the red carpet (this is why I think he's still her ex – if she was going as his girlfriend or publicist she wouldn't need to pull out all the stops!). Once she arrives she spots Miley wearing the same dress, with the same belt and boots too – an event that would surely get any stylist fired in the real world! Rather than make a hasty exit, Ms. Jones is caught by the paparazzi when notorious gay pal Anthony exclaims, "Mother of God. She's wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana!" Although Miley gushed about how much she wanted a SATC cameo, on-set sources say she doesn't have any lines – the fashion faux pas speaks loud enough! Now for the 'fit: both girls started with a dazzling Matthew Williamson strapless mini with a bejeweled neckline (get your shine on in 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent's Sequin Slip Dress in Beige, Shumaq's Isabelle Dress in Silver or LaROK's Sweetie Sequin Dress in Wood), roughing up the glam look with a black studded belt (similar to Rough Roses' Multi Studded Belt in Black). I know some of you will disagree, but I absolutely hate the chunky buckled boots. IMO, the boots are way too urban for such a flashy dress. I get that this is supposed to be a no-holds-barred look, so why not a sleek, refined pair of Jimmy Choos? Maybe the camera flashes change the color and the tan and grey shades are better matched to the dress – that's what I'll have to hope for Patricia Field to be right on this one. To personalize the look, Samantha opted for an amber mosaic collar necklace, black cuff bracelet (like CC Syke's Bardot Cuff in Gold) and shiny silver bow clutch (you can't see either in the picture so go here for the full view). Miley took it to the next level with full black leather gloves and a spiky choker that looks like she's about to impale Kim. I'm on the fence about both looks – it's really the boots throwing me off, but I do like the different ways the dress is styled – so it's up to you readers to decide who pulls off this look better. You can also catch up the rest of the SATC on-set gossip here. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa to come – do I really have to wait until next May to see all the SATC drama unfold in theaters??
Miley Cyrus seen on Sep 17 2009 in New York, NY. In total diva mode (is she ever not?), Miley Cyrus worked the red carpet at the 2009 VH1 Divas event in New York on September 17. I have very mixed feelings about her look here. On one hand, her Dsquared2 gown is absolutely stunning, and although many are saying it's too much for her age, I think it's perfect for the event. The gorgeous rhinestone details, the ruched front hem and the unexpected train at the back make this the perfect sexy, yet classy cocktail attire (if you're looking for a similar frock for events this fall, browse Sue Wong's Beaded Gown with Deep V Back in Black/Nude or Walter's Shiny Foil Twill Bustier Dress in Gunmetal). Beyond the dress, I'm not loving the choice of stockings or – I hate to say it – patent leather YSL pumps. As another blogger bluntly put it, divas don't wear fishnets, and I have to say I agree – I think it takes away from the elegance of the dress. As for the footwear, I'm picturing this dress with strappy stilettos with a gem encrusted strap across the toes – much sleeker and more refined than pumps for this type of dress, and event. Miley also loaded on the bangles and added a giant cocktail ring – again, I'd let the dress speak for itself and possible add a small accent like Adina Reyter's Tiny Heart Chain Bracelet in Sterling Silver, or maybe a diva-esque clutch like Moyna Handbag's Velvet Box Frame Clutch in Black. There are my thoughts – what are you thinking about this 'fit? If you recall, VH1 hosted a series of Divas Live events a few years back, and got the show started again with Miley, Adele, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson headlining this year. Miley performed her latest single "Party in the USA" in a Madonna-esque "Like a Virgin" corset mini dress and of course the fishnets, resulting in a lot of questions about her attire, racy dance moves and of course, her age - it's almost a de ja vu of her Teen Choice Awards performance a few weeks ago. Later in the show Miley joined Sheryl Crow for a special rendition of "If It Makes You Happy," and Kelly Clarkson paid tribute with a cover of Miley's Hannah Montana hit, "The Climb." Sounds like quite the show! Did any of you tune in to the live show on Thursday?
Miley Cyrus seen on Aug 27 2009 in Toluca Lake, CA. Who would've guessed Miley Cyrus has such an affinity for caffeine? Disney's infamous starlet was spotted getting her daily fix several times last week, making trips to the Coffee Bean in Toluca Lake on August 27 and August 29 before switching to Starbucks on August 30. She's young and her style is generally mediocre at best – she really doesn't seem to understand how to flatter those flabby thighs of hers – but who would've guessed the Disney princess was packing such a sweet wardrobe? She recently released an annoying YouTube video with a gal pal depicting her closet clean-out day. I'd put it on mute because her dialogue with her friend is so friggin' annoying, but holy cow she has quite an arsenal of goodies to pick from! And most of the stuff she tosses still has the tags on it! I know a lot of celebs get so many free digs they can't keep track, but with all this sartorial evidence you'd think Miley would quit wearing the same fringed bag and boots everywhere. I wouldn't advocate copying her style in any of these sightings, but to pull off the Bohemian-meets-rocker summer vibe, start with a cute pair of edgy shorts like Genetic Denim's Billy Boyfriend Short in Oxide. Miley's black shorts with tattered hems aren't bad for the Like a Virgin look, but the white ones are creeping up just a little too high for a 16 year old, IMO. Just sayin'! On top, put a spin on Miley's basic tees with fun prints like Splendid's Leopard Tee in Lagoon or Ella Moss' Bloom Tank in Night Clover. Top it off with a funky long necklace – avoid cliche crosses! – like Kuo Ting's Amethyst Gold Dipped Necklace in Amethyst or Amy DiGregorio's Sandy Bay Necklace in 14k Gold Filled. Miley hasn't left home lately without her fringed messenger bag, but I'd go for something more versatile (but still eye catching!) like Carla Mancini's Top Zipped Tote with Embellishments in Cobalt or Grey. Grab your fav flat boots and Wayfarers and you're ready to run this town!
Miley Cyrus seen on Aug 09 2009 in Universal City, CA. It wouldn't be the Teen Choice Awards without Miley Cyrus, as the Disney starlet posed for photographers and struck her signature moves last night at the ceremony in Universal City. Miley (her stylist, actually) paired a Haute Hippie black sequined mini skirt (for a denim option, try Genetic Denim's Alex Skirt in Blur) paired with a sheer white ribbed Hanes v-neck (like Splendid's 2x1 Ribbed Tank in Vanilla), black Giuseppe Zanotti heels, a skinny black studded belt (check out Jack Rabbit Collection's Bullet Belt in Black) and a ton of Loree Rodkin jewelry. For a few jewelry pieces inspired by Miley's look, try CC Skye's Double Wrap Bracelet in Black, Femme Metale Jewelry's Old World Cross Pendant in Silver and Marcia Moran's Dangle Web Necklace in Rhodium Plated. Lay it on me, readers - do you like Miley's look? We have to remember she is only 16, so I think the look works overall - it's fun and age-appropriate. It wouldn't hurt her to have taken off one piece of jewelry before leaving the house, though! It seems that whatever little Miley does, controversy follows. Case in point, her performance at the show last night, where she performed her song "Party in the USA" with the help of a pole that quite resembled that of a stripper. Ian Drew, Us Weekly's Senior Editor, commented "She already has this risque image, so it really wasn't much of a stretch. That's how Britney took off. She was the good girl gone bad, and it looks to be working for Miley as well." However, a Disney rep has this to say: "Disney Channel won't be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience - kids 6-14 - and consistent with what our brand values are." Talk about a non-statement! Child psychologist Wendi Fischer has this to add: "She's sending this message that this is 'OK' to do, and I don't think it is OK to do. Miley's only 16. Why is she rushing it?" What are your thoughts, readers? Is everyone making a mountain out of a molehill?
Miley Cyrus seen on Apr 23 2009 in London, UK. Making the most of her world press tour for Hannah Montana: The Movie, Miley Cyrus was spotted making a much anticipated shopping trip to the flagship TopShop store in London on April 23. Dressed in a casual blue-green tie-dyed blouse (try Cake Couture's Organic Tie Dye Sweater in Jade) and aged denim skinnies (like James Jeans' Sammy 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Jean in Icon), I have to admit I adore Miley's ivory ankle boots. Like almost everything she wears, they're a little old for her but she (sorta) pulls it off. What do you think of the short style? Accessorizing with a vivid fuchsia shoulder bag (try Carla Mancini's Foldover Bag with Rivets in Fuchsia), a long gold chain necklace (check out Circadian Studio's Gold Small Circles Long Wrap Necklace in Gold) and plenty of thick bracelets (trying starting with CC Skye's Double Wrap Bracelet in Luggage), Miley flashed her trademark peace sign at the paps as she made her way into the store. It seems like every celeb is hopping on Twitter to communicate with their fans these days, and Miley has turned into an avid little tweeter to keep in touch with her young followers. Miley shared her TopShop obsession 3 separate times yesterday, tweeting, "london here i come! or should i say.... TOPSHOP!!!" at the airport before adding, “press : ( then topshop yayy!!!!" followed by "topshop was ammaaazzinggg", keeping her fans abreast of her every little move. I don't know about the whole Twitter thing, but it is kind of cool to see tweets from Nicole Richie and Heidi Montag on Miley's profile... and of course Perez Hilton! Are any of you twittering yet?
Miley Cyrus seen on Apr 05 2009 in Las Vegas, NV. Following in her daddy's footsteps, Miley Cyrus got a healthy dose of country at the 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards on April 5 in Las Vegas, NV. Escorted on the red carpet at the MGM Grand by papa Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley chose a long Monique Lhullier gown with a high side slit and decadent gem encrusted one shoulder neckline (rock the asymmetrical look with picks like Cleo Brand's One Shoulder Dress in Navy or Prairie NY's showstopping Tricolor Goddess Dress in Snow). Let me start by saying that I love Monique, but I do not love Miley or the cut of this dress on her bod – it's just not flattering! I love the stone detail, but the shirring on the side makes her look chunky. The color isn't very flattering either - maybe a darker or lighter shade would have helped, or a belt at the waist? I don't know what it is but I'm just not feeling it on her! Miley paired her dress with simple Cole Haan heels and a flashy ring by H.Stern (you can't go wrong with Femme Metale's Gemstone Ring in Sterling Silver), gathering her long extensions in a messy side ponytail. Kind of a funny hair 'do, but she did have to let her locks down quickly for her performance during the show. What did you think of her rendition of "The Climb" off the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack? If you ask me the added country twang and the entranced people waving their arms at the front are a little cheesy... but then again everything Miley does is a little cheesy! For those of you Hannah fans (admitted or not), the long anticipated movie is out in theaters tonight, but Miley is already looking forward to her next project. Breaking out of her Disney character's shell, Miley will star in The Last Song, a drama penned for her by The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks. Miley talked about the project at the AMA awards, "It's a very different character. It's an awesome role, I am so excited about it. I love a challenge and the opportunity to stretch myself and learn, and this will definitely give me that chance. I can't wait!" We all know Miley is so over playing Hannah Montana, but does she have the acting skills to pull off the drama filled romance that epitomizes Nicholas Sparks? You be the judge!
Miley Cyrus seen on Mar 27 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Looking foxy in a flirty red mini dress, Miley Cyrus was out and about in Los Angeles on March 27. I hate to admit I love everything about this leggy look but whoa – it’s a little racy for a 16 year old, don’t you think? On anyone older I would love it! Starting with a flaming red mini dress (Ingwa Melero’s Mia Mini Dress in Poppy is fabulous) with a plain black cardigan (similar to Zoa’s Open Drape Cardigan in Black), Miley wore sexy laced up heels and toted her fav new poppy hued tote (check out Julie K’s Rianne Bowler Bag in Red Glaze). Accessorizing with classic gold hoops (like Rachel Leigh’s Sweet Tooth Hoop Earrings in Gold) and a black and gold chain cuff (just like CC Skye’s Double Wrap Bracelet in Black), Miley flaunted her newly elongated extensions and added a little edge with her nails painted black. Love the whole look – but why does she have to be wearing it? Maybe it’s just me, but it’s a little shocking Miley’s overprotective dad Billy Ray let her out like this. Then again, he’s fine with her dating a 20 year old, so I guess anything goes! Do you think it’s too much for Miley’s age? Miley is gearing up for the release of Hannah Montana: The Movie, but her dad already has another movie in the works starring her likeness. He put out an ad for a Miley look-alike to star in the movie version of her recently published memoir, Miles To Go. Seriously? They’re turning a 16 year old’s memoir into a movie within a year of being published? What is the world coming to!
Miley Cyrus seen on Mar 05 2009 in New York, NY. Doing what she does best, Miley Cyrus had a widely successful book signing at Barnes & Noble in Manhattan on March 5, flaunting a copy of her newly released memoir, Miles To Go. So many fans flocked to the city to see her that people actually slept on the street the night before for a chance to get her autograph! Miley looks uber casual in her age appropriate ‘fit, striking a pose in chocolate brown boots, stonewashed jeans (like Tag’s essential Skinny 5 Pocket Jean in Basic Resin Rinse) and a plain white tee (try Rails’ Kenna Long Sleeve T in White for winter). She kept the accessories simple with gold hoops (like Rachel Leigh’s Capsule Hoop Earrings in Gold) and a set of sequined and fringed scarves hanging loose. If the scarves were tied it would look frumpy and make her face look rounder, so for her tender young age she knows how to minimize her potential problem areas (I mean, I’m not the only one who thinks she has chipmunk cheeks, right?). Miley’s book covers plenty of revealing stories from her teen years in Tennessee to her rise to fame, dishing on everything from being bullied by “the Anti-Miley Club” in school to her short lived relationship with fellow Disney star, Nick Jonas. Here’s a pretty good excerpt summing up her dramatics: “Three girls strutted up and stood towering over me. My stomach churned. I clutched my grilled cheese sandwich like it was the hand of my best friend. It pretty much was my best friend those days. I was done for… They started cussing me and telling me to get up. I sat there, frozen. I didn’t know what to do. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I wasn’t chicken. What could they do to me? I was surrounded by people. I stood up, still a foot shorter then they were, and said, “What’s your problem? What did I ever do to you?” Cry me a river! Is there anyone who didn’t feel picked on at one point or another during adolescence? I can see how this story could be inspirational to Miley’s tween fans, but I can’t help but think that the way she writes is so cliché - but I guess that’s to be expected from a 16 year old, right?
Miley Cyrus seen on Feb 22 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Somehow teen queen Miley Cyrus transformed from high school sweetheart to Southern Belle overnight, just in time for the Oscars! Making a dazzling entrance on the red carpet at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on February 22, Miley wore a decadent ball gown by Zuhair Murad. I absolutely love the scalloped, sparkling tiered layers fanning out in a full shape, even if it is a little costumey. The fan detail on the belt breaks up the gem encrusted look, and the circle cut out on the back adds an unexpected element of sophistication (tone it down with Gold Hawk’s Tribal Eyelet Dress in Soft Praline with a belt like Rock Paper Scissors' Clamshell Reversible Belt in Black/Grey). The dress is probably too old for her, but everyone likes to play dress up, right? Miley completed her ensemble with dazzling teardrop earrings (Amy DiGregorio’s Orchard Park Earrings in 14K Gold Filled would be perfect) and a petite satiny clutch (try Posse New York’s Catalina Bag in Tan Pearl), wearing her hair swept loosely back with her bangs casually parted to the side. What do you think of her red carpet look? In terms of her career, the release of the widely publicized Hannah Montana: The Movie is looming closer (April 10), and Miley’s co-stars just can’t keep their lips sealed about secret celeb cameos in the flick. Rumor has it, Taylor Swift, Tyra Banks and Dolly Parton will all appear in the film, along with many, many others. You know Disney has plenty of strings to pull! Co-star Michael Musso recently talked to MTV about what the movie means to Miley: “It has a lot more drama. There's a lot of sentimental things [in the script] that came from [Miley’s] heart and Billy Ray's heart, because that's where they live. They shot in all the areas they used to hang out in.” More drama? I hope they didn’t include any of Miley’s real-life drama from the past year in the flick. From racy pics in the shower in her underwear turning up on the internet to photos of Miley pulling her eyes at the corners in what appears to be a slur against Asians, the girl has had quite a bit of explaining to do! And to think she’s just 16… do you think we have the next Paris/LiLo/Mischa on our hands?
Miley Cyrus seen on Aug 08 2008 in Toluca Lake, CA. She's the girl we all love to hate, but Miley Cyrus doesn't seem to mind. Spending some time with her mama in Toluca Lake on August 8, Miley is taking a break from filming The Last Song in Georgia while she attends the Teen Choice Awards, airing tomorrow night at 8pm on FOX. The teen queen grabbed lunch at Mo's Restaurant before getting her Starbucks fix and hamming it up for the photogs, obvi. Miley put her hippie chic 'fit together with frayed micro-mini shorts (almost identical to True Religion's Joey Cut Off in Body Rinse), a baggy tee (like C&C California's Amber Pullover in Faded Black) and black fringed boots. Going a little overboard with accessories, MC grabbed a black straw hat, aviators, some eclectic long necklaces (start with Robyn Rhodes' Dolly Long Necklace in Silver) and a wristful of Boho bracelets (try Castaway's Bali Bracelet in Green and Brown with Ettika's Leather Knot and Faceted Metal Bead 3x Wrap in Tan), completing the look with a patent croc tote over her shoulder. This is def better than the lazy looks Miley usually puts together, but those shorts are not working for her in the thigh area… as in they accentuate them in a most unflattering way! While MC has been busy filming this summer, she's also getting ready for her new Miley & Max Azria clothing line to debut at Wal-Mart this fall. She opened up about her new design venture in this month's Elle mag: “The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.” I apologize if that quote just made you barf all over your keyboard! The initial press for the line is out now and you can take a sneak peek here. Admittedly, it's not as trashy as one would expect, but it definitely looks cheaper than Miley's ragged weave. Yes, I too love Max Azria and yes, I think today's teens need more affordable, fashionable options, but this? Really? When did a white tee with a cheesy front-attached vest become something "good for Middle America"?
