The blonde waves look so much healthier than her usual tresses, don't you think? Over the weekend KD was spotted at the Jane Hotel with a few friends, dancing and smoking but apparently abstaining from alcohol. A witness told Page Six: “She had two bodyguards hovering over her at all times who were monitoring her. Still, she looked like she was having fun.” Kiki was in rehab last year but publicly said she was treated for depression, not alcohol or drugs. Still, friends have commented recently on her occasionally out of control drinking habits, which were on display at the Tropicana Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel and The Room nightclub in LA earlier this month. Here's something we only see once in a blue moon: Kirsten Dunst looking lovely in Miu Miu at the 5th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival Celebration soiree on August 6 in Los Angeles. Held at the DGA Theatre, Kiki makes her directorial debut with Demi Moore on the red carpet. Both ladies had their films shot by cinematographer Darren Lew and made the cut to have their work shown on opening night. Who says girls can't make it as directors? Kirsten worked the red carpet in a gorgeous Miu Miu strapless dress (you can buy the dress for $1,180, but you can look just as stunning at a fraction of the cost in frocks like Lotta Stensson's Shirred Tube Dress in Peacock, Rebecca Taylor's Strapless Dress in Cosair Navy or the Summer Cocktail Dress in Midnight). Love the sweetheart neckline and murky cobalt shade with her cleaned up blonde tresses. Just wish she'd picked more exciting footwear! The final touch: a dainty charm necklace (like Maya Brenner's The Everything Necklace in Gold), smoky eyes and a tinted pout. Très chic, no? I mean, even her hair looks great – this is definitely the first time her bleached tresses have looked healthy in at least a year! Kiki's 13-minute short Welcome actually debuted last summer at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where I'm assuming it did well enough to be featured in the festival this summer. Cleaning up her act for a night with fashion's finest, Kirsten Dunst arrives at the CFDA Awards at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in NYC on June 15. Now, this look is quite a contrast to her normal disheveled appearance, but I'm not convinced she deserves to be on the Best Dressed list as some critics have swooned over this look. I'll admit, when I first saw the pictures of Kirsten in this off-shoulder wrap mini (if you like the smoky shade check out Lotta Stensson's Circle Gather Dress in Grey, Cake Couture's Olivia Foil Tunic in Grey or Qi's Ruffled Tank Dress in Pale Heather Grey), Craft Time with KiKi popped into my mind. Step one: cut strips of newspaper. Step two: roll some marbles dipped in paint over the paper. Step 3: wrap oneself like a mummy and attend the CFDA Awards. What else can you say? Then I continued reading that the dress is by Rodarte, and the Mulleavy sisters took home the award for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Even if my first instincts about the design were wrong, I was right about the marbling - the dress is actually hand-marbled silk chiffon and tulle, done at the craft table just like I pictured it. Ok, nice move Kiki, your stylist picked the right dress, but is it right for you? I can't say the shades of gray look bad on Kirsten's pale frame, but I think there are probably more flattering hues for her complexion. Or at least more exciting. I do love the black and gray buckle heels by Nicholas Kirkwood, complemented by the slender silver clutch (if you need something a little roomier try CC Skye's LuLu Day Bag in Grey), but I'm not sure about the heavy black eyeliner. I guess Kirsten needed to be a little daring with her makeup since she skipped jewelry, but do you think brighter lips or more exciting hair would have been a better direction? There's just something about the whole look that seems not quite right to me – are any of you picking up on the same vibe?

It's no secret Kirsten Dunst loves a good party, and she made her way out to Indio, CA last weekend for three days of the Coachella music festival to do just that. According to onlookers, Kiki arrived on Friday night and hung out in the VIP area, preoccupied with her Blackberry and countless cigarettes as Morrissey took the stage. On Sunday April 19, Kiki was spotted in this flirty little frock while relaxing on the grass with an icy beverage and a mysterious fellow in a straw hat. Wonder who Kiki has moved on to now - and if he's the same lucky man spotted out in LA with her a week ago! While enjoying the many musical acts, KD meandered around in a loose fitting tunic with a floral cut-out neckline (check out Cake Couture's Mexico Pleated Top in White), wearing simple flip-flops and while carrying a vintage flap bag (play up the eclectic vibe with Carla Mancini's Postman Clutch in Multi). It's a pretty sloppy look but I have to admit I like the tunic dress. Can't you see it with frayed denim shorts like Tag Jean's Lima Cut Off Short in Royal Vintage and espadrilles? So much potential! Wearing her signature Wayfarers and a couple of woven bracelets (try layering a few Single Leather Bracelets by Accessories & Beyond, which come in a myriad of candy colors) along with her wristband, Kiki looked like she enjoyed herself even if it was a little steamy in the desert. Did any of you make your way out there for the festivities? Back in LA-LA Land, talks about the Spiderman 4 sequel have been in the works for quite some time, but there's some question as to whether or not Kiki will reappear as Mary Jane for a fourth time. No one knows for sure if it's Kirsten refusing to commit or if the studio execs wised up and decided to find a real actress, but my money is on the studio. I mean, it's not like Kiki has a lot going on career wise (How to Lose Friends and Alienate People wasn't exactly her best film) so I don't see how she could be crazy enough to turn down such a high-profile role! Sony is tight-lipped about the project, but director Sam Raimi dished a little info: “Right now, [scriptwriter] David Lindsay-Abaire is working on a draft of the new picture. And he’s hard at work, and hopefully we’ll see something in about three months.” Guess we'll have to wait and see how the casting pans out!

The pair met up with two male friends and spent the afternoon stretched on a blanket having a seemingly great time. If you recall, Kiki had her Balenciaga bag full of cash, her camera and about $2000 worth of loot inside snatched from her hotel room in NYC while filming How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. The crooks were caught on camera, so the first plead guilty and got four years in jail for the crime. The second burglar, James Jimenez, has a trial date scheduled in May and it looks like Kiki might have to testify against him. Though her first night out was spent with a gal pal, this time Kiki was escorted out of the bar by a mystery man helping her keep her balance. Clad in a typical lackluster ensemble, KD started with an old fashioned polka dot frock (create your own holiday look with Zoa’s Polka Dot Ruffle Blouse in Black with a loose skirt like Shumaq’s Satin Bell Skirt in Black) with a long camel hooded overcoat (try Ingwa Melero’s elegant Velvet Coat with Frog Closure in Espresso) and comfy wedge heels. Though the night out was a bit premature, KD did have something important to celebrate over the weekend: a Los Angeles judge awarded her request for a permanent restraining order against her psycho stalker Christopher R. Smith. After he was arrested trying to break into her home in November, Mr. Smith was placed under a 72 hour psychiatric hold, during which he claimed that he and Kirsten have a “spiritual connection” spanning from a past life. In his statement to police, Mr. Smith said: “I’m in love with Kirsten, so I went to her house, I don’t want to go to jail. I hope to get off with a warning. I connected with Kirsten spiritually, I felt like I connected with her and she connected with me. Now I don’t know if she did, I guess you have to ask her if she connected.” With all the crazies in the world, hopefully this one will be deterred by the seriousness of the restraining order – for Kiki’s sake!

Though she looks quite inebriated, this is one of the few times I have nothing bad to say about KD’s choice of dress – except maybe to add a few inches to the hem to cover up those pasty white thighs. Guess Kiki stayed out of the sun when she was in Miami last week! I must also comment that this is the second time in a month that KD has been seen noticeably intoxicated in public. Less than a year after her stint in rehab, perhaps Kiki’s partying is spiraling out of control once again? Recently commenting on her teenage years spent building her acting career, KD shed some light on her desire to let loose: “I was always very responsible and sensible. I went through my teens like an adult, always being careful not to stay out too late or get myself into trouble. I was working and getting up very early to be on film sets. I become isolated. I felt like the one with the responsibility who made important decisions." It seems the tables have turned now, with Kiki turning up in more hot nightspots than big screen flicks these days. I immediately have to wonder, what’s up with the saggy, braless look? Did LiLo give her some style tips? It’s not that I don’t like Kirsten’s style; I just don’t get it. There are always clashing elements to her ‘fits, and it never makes sense – like the shoes and bag: cute separately, but not together. Whatever the occasion, Kiki almost always looks sloppy and unprepared. I have to wonder why this is so – is she just clueless when it comes to style, or does she really not care what she looks like or what anyone says about her? Such a mystery! Another mystery in Kiki’s life involves whether or not she’s dating Jacob Soboroff, the director she’s been working with making a documentary about the history behind the US presidential voting rules. Either way, Jacob is quite the smarty pants, getting his masters from NYU in political theory and philosophy and working as a commentator for a variety of news outlets. Kiki recently dished on her past, present and future to Harper’s Bazaar: “When you spend your entire life as a child actress, being told where to go and where to stand, you’re performing constantly for people. It definitely breeds the kind of person who’s dependent on other people’s approval. If I’d trusted myself and listened to myself all the times that I ignored myself, I would have been fine. Before I move on to the ‘fit, I must remark that it’s definitely noticeable KD had her fill of complementary champagne – and only 6 months since she left rehab! Though her Cirque stint was for depression, not drinking, you’d think they’d have told her one definitely does not help the other! Unfortunately, I’m not sure Kiki ever learns… and someone should have told her that yellow, black and booze is so not a good look for her. Starting with a chic black knee length dress (check out Black Halo’s Pleated Bodice Dress in Black or Smitten’s Empire Pleated Dress in Black), black wedges (Matiko’s Sassy Wedge in Black Patent would have been a nice touch) and a black headband, the ‘fit would have been okay if she hadn’t added the questionable yellow swing jacket with a detachable cape – that should have been left in the store instead of a reattached on the way out – and the studs along the bottom are particularly problematic for me (a better fitting version like Kushcush’s Three Button Coat in Yellow would have been much better). On a positive note, the dainty metallic chain strap purse she’s carrying does soften the look (try Antoinette Lee's new Mia Bag in Gold)… if only there wasn’t so much bulky yellowness going on! At the bash, Kiki mingled with Brady Cunningham, an up-and-coming LA designer who owns the new boutique, and was all smiles for the press inside – presumably before she had a bit too much bubbly and left the soiree. Lucky for her, she did have a reason to celebrate: her career is finally getting back on track, with Spiderman 4 officially in the works and Kiki expected to continue portraying her role as Mary Jane. Another upside down kiss, anyone?

Completely her look with casual trousers (like Denim of Virtue’s Kindress Trouser Flap Pocket in Clay) and pointy black boots, KD almost would have passed for a European had she left her bug-eye sunnies at home in the states. Such a shame! Besides making a rare appearance at fashion week, lately Kiki has opened up about her whirlwind childhood breaking out as an actress. From having her first kiss with Brad Pitt on the set of Interview with a Vampire to her wild partying ways as of late, KD has definitely learned her share of lessons, telling the press, “I have had to grow up very fast in the adult world of acting. I already know that if I have a child, I will never put them through this. I do have regrets. For all her recent talk about how at peace she is with life after rehab, the girl seriously needs to hire a stylist and be at peace with her closet! Seriously, Dakota looks more put together, and she’s like what, 12? Breaking down her look, Kiki started with a high waist black skirt with skinny suspenders (try Tricia Fix’s much classier Kara Skirt in Black, sans suspenders), tucked in an electric blue cami (Miguelina’s Francine Top in Royal Blue would work), with a long pendant necklace (check out Rachel Leigh’s Rose Pave Pendant in Gold) and a sparkly black clutch (see Julie K’s Natalie Sleek Clutch in Black Python). A little frumpy, but otherwise not so bad, until your eyes are blinded by the white ballet flats. What could possibly have possessed Kirsten to wear flats with this, and white ones at that? The skirt screams “heels!” and so do the ill-placed suspenders! Lastly, the disheveled hair and slight sheen on her face where foundation should be… oh Kiki, whatever happened to your Bring It On preppy, polished days? Taking a break from the spotlight, KD recently sat down with Harper’s Bazaar for a tell-all cover story for the October issue. Among the many things she said, by far the best is her denial of anything romantic going on between her and Justin Long: “[The rumors] are the funniest thing on planet Earth. I don’t know him from Adam. I met him once and he and his friend were kind enough to walk me home. I’ve never seen him since.” Oh, really? Kiki’s latest flick, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, will premiere next month, but it seems like the title is already becoming a sort of prophecy come true for her. During filming, Kiki’s penthouse hotel room was burglarized, and now she might have to testify in court. Although one of the crooks plead guilty to stealing her $13k Marc Jacobs bag and was sentenced to 4 years in jail last week, it looks like the other thief is going to let a jury decide his fate. If the proceedings continue, Kiki will have to take the stand to affirm that all goods taken belonged to her, including her cell, 2 digital cameras, Balenciaga bag and $2,500 in cash (Yikes! Why carry so much cash, KD? I mean, NY is famous for muggings!) Sadly, even though the thieves were caught, neither of the pricey bags have been returned to Kiki yet… bet she’s anxious to see her goods home safe and sound! On top of her legal woes, rumor has it that during the filming, KD had the author of the book the film is based on kicked off the set. Toby Young recently explained to the press, “She overheard me giving the producer a ‘note’ on her performance in a particular scene. At the time, I didn’t think of it as a criticism, more as a helpful bit of advice, and the producer took it in that spirit. But Kirsten overheard this exchange and interpreted it as a complaint about her acting ability. Trying her best to look indie, Kirsten Dunst appeared at the Palm Springs International Film Society’s Shortfest on August 23 looking a lot more shabby than chic. Let’s call this a “vintage” shirt dress, although it is much more of a shirt than a dress (hope she’s wearing shorts underneath!). I say “vintage” rather than “ragged” because it does have some kind of print and cute little buttons up the front, if you overlook the raw threads hanging from the bottom and the awkward collar that may or may not have a hole in it. To properly pull off the shirt dress trend, try Smitten’s Belted T Shirt Dress in Army Green or liven things up a bit with Cake Couture’s printed Shirt Dress in Mosaic Tile, both much more polished versions that Kiki’s attempt. Don’t get me wrong, the sassy shirt dress look is easily attainable, but just make sure that a) the dress is long enough that you can raise your arms without flashing all the old geisers in Palm Springs and b) just because the shirt might be men’s doesn’t mean your footwear should be too. KD added some seriously hideous black loafers (try Matiko’s Claire Flat in Whiskey for a more feminine version) and a black messenger style bag (like Linea Pelle’s Dylan Shoulder Messenger Bag in Black), finishing her ‘fit with a simple silver ring (like Femme Metale’s Rectangle Ring in Silver) and a couple of slender bracelets. Always under scrutiny for her ever-evolving love life, KD was again spotted getting hot and heavy with Justin Long at the Sunset Junction Festival in Los Angeles before scurrying off to Palm Springs for the film festival on Saturday evening. Unlike other high maintenance celebs who hire drivers, Kiki arrived in her Prius, with her hair in a messy bun and no make-up. Then again, maybe she was wearing make-up when she left LA, and the intense desert heat melted it off her face. Whose idea was it to host the film festival in the middle of summer, anyway? KD attended the festival for the screening of her first directorial debut, writing and producing “Welcome,” a 13 minute ghost film. Kirsten said of her leap from acting to directing, “My friend Bryce (Dallas Howard) had done it, and Gwyneth Paltrow and a lot of people I really care about had done it. It was a nice platform to start my — hopefully — directing career.” Kiki wasn’t the only female celeb who made into the director’s chair – Jessica Biel and Kate Hudson also had films that made the cut. In addition to her shopping and dining outing with mom and dad, KD was spotted at Hollywood’s Green Door club on Friday night, dancing it up with her girl friends. KD was also there a few nights earlier with her mama for the renowned jazz night that her All Good Things co-star Ryan Gosling made his DJ debut at a few weeks ago. Despite the fact that he was seen leaving the event with former flame Rachel McAdams, I was shocked to dig up reports that Kiki and Gosling had a little fling while filming their flick back in May. Could KD be moving in on Rachel’s man like she moved in on Justin Long last month? Let’s hope not – two homewrecking romances is two too many!

The Crazy/Beautiful star is gearing up to rock the vote this fall and threw out this random factoid at the party, “It’s all about America’s agrarian roots, see? November is the end of harvest, and the Tuesday vote allowed Sabbath-observing country folk enough time to horse-and-buggy it to the polling stations before Wednesday market.” KD was explaining the documentary she is going to make this fall, advocating the idea that voting day should be a national holiday so more people can make it to the polls. The latest love gossip reveals KD has moved on from DJ Matt Creed and is getting cozy with Justin Long. The duo was spotted in NYC holding hands and canoodling yesterday, a mere week after Long’s split with Drew Barrymore. A source said, “They stayed out all night and Kirsten was all over him and kept leaning in to kiss him.” On another positive note: Kirsten must be relieved that the drug-dealer-thief-creeper who snatched her $13,000 Marc Jacobs handbag from her hotel room last year (with over 2g’s in cash/cards, digital cameras and iPod inside) will face up at least 4 years in prison after pleading guilty last week. Before the holiday, Kirsten was frequently spotted hiking at Runyon Canyon in her signature "indie exercise" look and at Whole Foods making sure to follow the celebrity favorite organic diet. Sporting her signature all black look, Dunst starts her morning off early catching up on the latest current events with her copy of The New York Times. Even in California, one must still stay warm in the crisp winter weather. Beginning her look with a pair of UGGs, the boots showed her only sign of color in this wardrobe. Dunst has confirmed that she and Tobey will both be starring in the fourth installment, and that this will most likely be her last; the movie is set to hit the big screen in 2011. It is unsaid the exact number that Kirsten finally agreed for the fourth installment, but rumor has it she was offered as much as 50 million after refusing previous smaller offers.
