While Katie spent her Saturday night dining with little Suri, she was spotted heading to dinner at a Tribeca restaurant on Sunday alone. Wonder who she met up with in her strapless ensemble? KH just started filming The Romantics, coming onboard as a last min replacement for Liv Tyler. From her boyfriend jeans to Suri's hair it just seems we can't stop finding fault in Katie's choices whenever she appears in public, and Katie once again came under fire after she was photographed giving Suri a bottle on the set of her new flick. Making a rare public appearance at Elle's 2009 Women in Hollywood Tribute in Beverly Hills on October 19, Katie Holmes was in great spirits while working the press wall at the Four Seasons Hotel. I honestly can't remember the last time she looked so polished and happy – clearly taking a little time off after filming in Australia over the summer did her good! I'm not really crazy about the visible bra under her Azzedine Alaïa sheer top and skirt (opt for Generra's Empire Waist Top in Black with Tt's playful Sabrina Skirt in Black), but at least it's not bright blue like Christina Aguilera sported a few weeks ago. Lingerie isn't exactly appropriate for this event, but it's not like Katie to show any skin so I'll let her pass on this one. She paired the look with classy pumps (try Samanta's sassy Viv Pump Wide in Black Patent) and a petite black bowler bag (like Elaine Turner's Tammy Patent Leather in Black). In the accessories dept Katie could have made this more exciting but it's so refreshing to see her smile it doesn't matter that she's not trying too hard to impress. What do you think of her bob growing out – should she keep it this length or crop it again? I kind of like the curls at the bottom, but it gets a little droopy around the ears IMO. Katie has officially fulfilled her designing dreams now that she and style Jeanne Yang have their line for sale at Maxfield, telling the press recently: "It has been my dream forever to be in fashion and I’m truly inspired by my daughter Suri. Katie has said from the beginning the line is inspired by her daughter, which has always puzzled me a little bit – why would a 30 year old woman want to wear clothes inspired by a 3 year old? October may have just arrived, but for Suri Cruise it's Halloween everyday while hanging with mama Katie Holmes in Boston over the past two weeks, enjoying a little bonding time while Tom is in town filming his new action flick Wichita with Cameron Diaz. The first couple of sightings I just rolled my eyes and thought typical, as Katie is back into her peg leg boyfriend jeans - or I guess husband jeans is more appropriate, since she confessed to wearing Tom's PRPS jeans last summer. The last couple of days I couldn't resist sharing – what in the WORLD is Suri wearing? She must be in that 3-year-old phase where she insists on dressing herself, but I have to wonder when TomKat will decide it's time to curb that self expression. Katie took her to a park along the Charles River on Sept 29, sporting matching stripes. Katie wore hers in the form of a tucked in scoop neck (like Rails' Deanna Striped Tank in Navy/White) while Suri stuck to leggings, pairing with adorably inappropriate leopard print ballet flats and lime floral print purse. Katie completed her 'fit with cuffed boyfriend jeans – better fitting than ones she wore earlier in the week, I might add (try AG Jeans' Damaged Boyfriend Crop Jeans in 17 Years) and flaming red flats (add a little color to your fall wardrobe with Marnie Bugs' Buckle in Cognac). The next day, Katie took Suri to the Boston Children's Museum for some interactive learning, again letting Suri dress herself in a cute floral dress, cardigan, mismatched leggings and velcro Mary Janes. I'm at a loss here – how would you caption this 'fit? As for Katie's style here, it's winter in Melbourne so that explains the mismatched scarf and stripe tunic (I would pair Ella Moss’ Laurel Dress in Mediterranean with A Graves’ more interesting printed Unicorn Scarf in Blue) with standard comfy leggings (Splendid’s Long Leggings in Black are a steal), but I think boots would be cuter than the metallic flats she's got going on. For the finishing touch, a cropped leather jacket like Mike & Chris Rex Leather Hoody in Charcoal or the Belushi Leather Jacket in Light Sienna will keep you warm and stylish in chilly climates across the globe. Tom starred with Cam in Vanilla Sky a few years ago, and came out with Katie to support their close friend, in Cameron's words. One thing they left at home? The fake happy expressions they usually put on for the paps! Tom is still his usual smiling, waving self but Katie looks pretty tight lipped watching Cameron and posing with her hubby after the ceremony. As one of the tabloids put it, are visions of divorce dancing in Katie's head? Putting together a cute, casual 'fit for the sunny morning ceremony, Kat started with J Brand's destroyed Zombie skinnies (I love 1921's less extreme Slim Jean in Medium or Dylan George's Lucy Cropped Zip Jean in Czar) with a loose white tee (like PGD Style's Ricky Tunic Tee in White) topped off with a granny cardigan. It’s quite a statement bag in such a clean shade, but priced at around $2,500, it seems a little excessive for such a minimalist look, don’t you think? I’m sure Katie got it for free but I was surprised such a simple style is so pricey – it’s not like it’s Prada! Katie has been obsessed with this bag for a few weeks now, toting it around LA with a variety of looks. I’ll admit it is perfect for a busy mom with the numerous interior pockets, even if the shape is a little boring (get the light look for summer with Julie K’s Katherine Tote in Toffee Glaze for a fraction of the price). While she’s been going the casual route lately, Katie started her day in a ruffled black frock with balloon shoulders (opt for a fun pattern like Plenty by Tracy Reese’s Pintucked Chemise Dress in Plum Rose or go sleeveless with Shumaq’s Monica Dress in Black and White) and a pair of classic pointy toe rusty pumps, pulling her hair back in a low pony and shading her face with uber dark sunnies. It needs something to control the volume – give it a belt at the waist and take off those hideous sleeves and suddenly you have a chic look. Guess Katie was serious when she said she was giving design a try a few months back, but whatever happened to kids clothes? I see no universal appeal in this look, but I have to admit even if it’s boring Katie does look stunning at the swanky gala affair, held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. Pairing an ivory blazer with a silky cami (like Zoa’s Stretch Tunic with Banded Bottom in Silver) tucked into a mom-esque high waist maxi skirt (opt for Loy and Ford’s Lace Skirt in Beige), Katie accented the look with braided gold heels, long wrapped necklaces (try Robyn Rhode’s gorgeous layered Grace Necklace in Gold) and a gold statement cuff (try Danielle Steven’s customized Single Engraved Bracelet in Gold). KH mingled with attendees in a sexy draped keyhole halter top and matching silk pants, both by Alexander McQueen (spice up the look with picks like Karina Grimaldi's Karolina Wrap Top in Mystic Midnight or Black Halo's Cowl Halter Top with Belt in Bronze with Lotta Stensson's Linen Palazzo Pant in Black for summer). I like the top but do you think the loose fit does anything for Katie's bod? She has the right tall, lanky figure to pull off ensembles like this but the all black, shiny look is a little blah - especially compared to McQueen's more risk-taking pieces. Doesn’t it seem like Tom’s world press tour is never gonna end? First and foremost, Katie’s glossy new extensions are gorgeous. Love the side bangs and the added volume, and the new look couldn’t have come at a better time – let’s face it, the bob was looking a little drab and dated. For the red carpet, Katie chose a colorblock dress by Jason Wu with a blazing red skirt and fuchsia geometric print bodice (try similarly dramatic looks like Black Halo’s Boatneck Sheath Dress with Hip Sash in Geranium, Deep Purple and Cranberry or Tricia Fix’s Siva Mini Cocktail Dress in Radiant). Most of you probably find the color combo revolting, but I actually like the shock value – if it wasn’t paired with stirrup leggings. The dress is way too loud for tights, let alone stirrups, and the multicolored heels are too much. The heels are Rousseau by Jerome C. Rouseeau and are great separately, but together, what was she (or her stylist) thinking? At least she kept the accessories simple, adding just a hint of shine with a single gold bangle (go bold with CC Skye’s Studio 54 Mesh Cuff in Gold). I’m sure you all have your own take on this look – does it work for her? Now that Katie has finished up the Broadway segment of her career, she’s looking to add a new title to her resume: Fashion Designer. Doesn’t seem like that big of a shocker considering the plethora or celebrity lines out there, but somehow it still surprises me a little that Katie is confident enough in her fashion sense to try her hand at designing. Katie recently chatted with Glamour about her inspiration to collaborate on a kids clothing line with a friend: “My friend Jeanne Yang and I have been working together. She’s got twin girls about six years old, and we both grew up with mothers who sewed. Attending an art class with Suri in Santa Monica in the afternoon of February 28, Katie is seen here looking after her little girl in the parking lot before entering the studio. Dressed casually in black leggings (James Jeans’ Ritchie Slim Leg Clam Digger in Black Flex is super versatile), black t-strap sandals and a khaki wrap tunic over a white tank (try Ecoganik’s better fitting Double Bib Trench Coat in Camel with PGD Style’s Babydoll Tank in White), Katie looks like she could use some help keeping her hair out of her eyes! I can’t tell if the top is an apron for the art class or something Katie really has hanging in her closet; if it’s the latter it’s a little frumpy for me. Is anyone else wondering about the blue nail polish Katie is rocking on her right hand only? Maybe she let Suri practice her manicurist skills – I’m not sure what else could explain it! After getting creative with Suri, TomKat enjoyed a romantic dinner date at Il Sole, though neither looked too happy when they left after their meal. You have to assume it’s due to the pap presence, but I always find myself wondering if there’s some creepy controlling thing going on behind the scenes, no matter how many times they both insist they’re normal. Katie recently took the opportunity to shed some light on what her life is really like married to Tom in a tell-all interview with Glamour. When asked about the 16 yr age gap between Katie and her other half, she replied, “It was never a concern. I know one would think, Now, how is that? But really, we both like to work, we both like our families. It’s being there, being supportive, being an ear. It’s not so much, “Do you think I should do this?” It’s “What do you think of it?” Among other hot topics, Katie rewound a little bit and described her climb to fame: “From an early age I knew that I wanted to be in this business. Stepping out of the glamorous Copacabana Palace Hotel in an irresistible cornflower blue dress (Ecoganik’s Pocket Tunic Dress in Horizon Blue or Woo’s Michelle Dress in Pool Blue would be equally cute), Katie towered over her height challenged hubby in summery slingbacks. Kat’s character Grace slinked around Eli’s dream in a skin tight leotard, long gloves and sexy heels, belting out “Hit Me With a Hot Note” complete with a full dance routine amid a smoky special effects. I would never have guessed someone as meek as Katie could have such a powerful voice – seriously, the girl can sing! After plenty of good reviews for “All My Sons,” there’s talk that Katie has the talent to move onto a Broadway musical next, seeing as she loves living in the Big Apple so much. A friend told InTouch, "She wants to continue the momentum and star in another play after this one. When I first saw these photos, I thought she must still be in costume – but no, this is an original design by Mrs. Cruise herself. Katie wore a vintage black lace top under a white strapless jumpsuit with voluminous harem legs (check out Ecoganik’s High Waisted Jumpsuit in Black or Walter’s Vintage Lace Short Sleeve Top in Black to get the look), paired with strappy black heels – how do you feel about the flashback look, does it work for her? I think with the bold red lipstick, boyish coif and overall glammed up appearance, Kat pulls it off to a tee, with the matching gold necklace and bracelet (try Kimberly Faith’s Patchwork Necklace in Gold/Silver with Danielle Stevens’ Alligator Bangle in Gold) and shiny black folded clutch (see Julie K’s Sasha Clutch in Black Glaze) sealing the deal. We're so proud of her.” From a small town girl to the big screen and now the big stage, I can’t agree with Posh more. Bravo!

We’ve seen quite a bit of Katie Holmes since she relocated to the Big Apple for her stage debut in All My Sons, and on September 4 the Dawson’s Creek star made yet another fashion statement as she made her way to rehearsal in the morning. Poor Kat has been the subject of pretty intense scrutiny lately, getting flack for everything from her boyish haircut to her oversized jeans and poorly assembled ‘fits. Even Tim Gunn chimed in with his two cents, commenting, “I have to say, Katie Holmes has become so much more sophisticated in so many ways, but I think she’s in a dip right now. I can’t explain it. She ascended from this tomboyish waif look to an incredible sexy sophisticate. We realize how much style she’s capable of. I don’t get it.” Katie must have taken note, because her style has been improving over the past few weeks, adding killer ankle boots, sexy skinny jeans, and colorful prints to her normally drab wardrobe. Maybe being surrounded by fashionistas in NYC has rubbed off on her? Fortunately for all of us, Katie Holmes finally gave herself a break from the pegged leg spree and donned a motherly black and white dress on her way to rehearsal at the theater in NYC on August 8. I still can’t make sense of Katie’s recent sightings in the same button fly, pegged leg jeans about 9 days in a row. Some plausible theories about her questionable fashion choice include Katie could be hiding a baby bump, the victim of a savvy denim thief who left her permanently borrowing from Tom’s closet or she is living in a mirror-less penthouse that prevents her from seeing how terrible she looks wearing the same misguided jeans over and over. But now it’s official – Katie really IS wearing Tom’s jeans. This week Prps Jeans confirmed Katie has been wearing a pair of their men’s jeans that will be available in a women’s version this fall called the Boyfriend. Finally, the mystery is solved, but it still makes no sense! Katie’s look (slightly) improved with her black and white maxi (try Karina Grimaldi’s Floresta Silk Dress in Theodora Black Ivory), paired with a drab white cardigan (try the form fitting ¾ Sleeve Cardigan in Vanilla Cream by Syndey LA for a cleaner look), sparkly gold flats (check out Matiko’s Leslie Snake Flat in Bone) and essential dark sunnies (like JeeVice’s Red Hot in Brown Fade). Okay, the first time I saw Katie Holmes leaving the set of Eli Stone in those hideous rolled cuff jeans, I assumed they had to be part of her costume. I mean, what else could possess a person to wear jeans 3 sizes too big with open-toed heels and nylons simultaneously? Apparently, not so much. After at least 5 public appearances wearing those hideous flashback jeans, one can only assume Katie is trying to bring the fad back, presumably from the dead. It’s entirely possible she unearthed these button-fly monstrosities from Tom’s Risky Business wardrobe. How do you feel about Katie’s favorite stone washed pegged jeans – love it or leave it? Practice will not make those jeans perfect, but above the waist Katie pulled off the conservative chic look as she cruised NYC solo to and from rehearsals for “All My Sons” on August 5. Honestly, she looked relatively put together with a black and white polka dot scarf, simple white tank tucked in under a white puff sleeve cardigan (similar to Elizabeth Gillett’s cropped Jackie Button Shrug in Ivory). Katie refined her look with her envious black python Chloe Paraty Bag (try Rough Roses’ Jewel Hobo in Black for a much more affordable version), basic square brown sunnies (check out JeeVice’s Exquisite in Oyster Bronze), simple metallic flats (try Matiko’s Leslie Snake Flat in Bone as a more lively alternative) and a thick brown leather belt to hold up those awful trousers. Katie Homely, oops, I mean Holmes, was spotted at the Red Bull US Moto Grand Prix in Laguna Seca last Sunday, July 20, getting a piece of the action with robo-hubby Tom Cruise. TomKat did their best to look the part, both clad in leather and denim while excitedly watching the races. Katie’s outfit can only be described as biker chick meets the girl next door (clash!) wearing a cropped leather jacket (Black Halo’s Shirred Cropped Leather Jacket in Brown is one of my faves), a plain white, tucked in tee, casual boyfriend jeans (similar to True Religion’s Bobby in Chelsea) held up with a brown leather belt (like Pellemelle’s Double Ring Belt in Chocolate). Katie added her feminine touch with a simple gold locket (see Kuo Ting’s Floral Oval Locket Necklace in Gold), a beaded leather bracelet and big brown sunnies (check out JeeVice’s Sassy in Brown Fade), which are almost enough to distract you from that awful boyish haircut. Seriously, did Tom break out a bowl and scissors for that one? Wow, how different Saint Tropez is from Los Angeles! In LA, it doesn't matter who you are… if Tom Cruise is outside waiting, you will be shuffled around so that he can get in. Without question!

She was looking chic in her black J Brand's, along with a sleeveless silk blouse over a white ¾ sleeve top (Woo's Ruthie Top is a similar piece, with some added lace detail). This new style is definitely a major change from her former shoulder-length cut, which she had been rockin' since "Dawson's Creek" back in the day. Katie's new hair makes her appear quite savvy and empowered, and it looks as though she is definitely aware of this. There is one thing though that I have to say (and I'm sure you were also thinking)... this chic new hairstyle is very Victoria Beckham-esque! Furthermore, I highly doubt that this is a coincidence. It is no secret that the girls became fast friends recently, as they have been seen shopping and even attended Paris Fashion Week together last year. Posh recently spoke out on her affinity for Katie, saying that she "really likes Katie, she's sweet and we speak on the phone about fashion and the kids." How adorable.
