Kate Elizabeth Winslet (born 5 October 1975) is an English actress and singer. She is noted for having played a wide range of diverse characters over her career, but is probably best-known for her critically acclaimed performances as Juliet Hulme in Heavenly Creatures (1994), Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995), Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic (1997), Iris Murdoch in Iris (2001), Clementine Kruczynski in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Sarah Pierce in Little Children (2006). She has received the Screen Actors Guild Award, two BAFTA Awards, the Grammy Award and has been nominated for five Academy Awards, seven Golden Globes and an Emmy. At the age of 22, she broke the record for the youngest person to receive two Oscar nominations, and each of her subsequent nominations has broken a further record: the youngest person to receive three, four, and five nominations. David Edelstein of New York Magazine hails Winslet as "the best English-speaking film actress of her generation". As of March 2007, Leonardo DiCaprio signed to co-star in Revolutionary Road with Winslet as Frank and April Wheeler, a 1950s couple who appear content on the surface but are withering internally. The film will be the first to reunite the notable duo, who have remained close since their first pairing in Titanic. There are also talks that Winslet's husband, Sam Mendes and his production company, Neal Street Productions, purchased the film rights to the long-delayed biography of circus tiger tamer Mabel Stark. Winslet has stated that she has been eager to portray this complex woman for three years now and is looking forward to working with her husband on bringing this to the screen.

Kate Winslet seen on Nov 20 2011 in Paris, France. Kate Winslet was definitely the lady in red as she posed for photos at the Parisian premiere of her film Carnage, which was held at the Cinema Gaumont Marignan on November 20. Co-star John C. Reilly joined Kate on the red carpet, and I have to ask you... are you having a case of style deja vu? Kate wore this red figure hugging Stella McCartney dress, but is it just a bit too similar to the dress (also by Stella McCartney) that she wore to the Venice Film Festival back in September? There's no question that it's basically the same dress in a different color, but then again, there's also no denying that Kate is rocking it! The side panels definitely accentuate Kate's curvy physique, however do you wish she had changed it up just a bit more? If you're looking for a red dress similar to the one Kate is wearing here, check out Lotta Stensson's Shirred V Neck Dress in Red. Kimberly Taylor's Ava Dress in Red and Stretta Apparel's Jessica Dress in Dark Red are also great options. In addition to Kate's repeat frock, she styled her look with simple drop earrings, a silver bangle (try Elizabeth & James' Two Tone Scallop Bangle in Sterling Silver), and black strappy heels. I'd love to hear your thoughts, everyone!
Kate Winslet seen on Sep 01 2011 in Venice, Italy. Looking gorgeous as ever, Kate Winslet posed at a photo call for her new film Carnage at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice, Italy on September 1. Kate kept it simple as classic for her look, pairing a chic LBD (for something similar, try either Boulee's Rhiana Dress in Black or Bianca Nero's Stretch Satin Dress in Black) with a Helmut Lang blazer (try Laugh, Cry, Repeat's Cropped Sleeve Blazer in Grey) and a pair of black and nude Michael Kors sandals. Jewelry wise, KW wore House of Lavande 1960's stunning Panetta gold and diamante bracelet with a pair of drop earrings (like Calico Juno Designs' Cosmopolitan Pearl Drop Earring in Gold). Thoughts on this timeless ensemble from Kate, everyone? In other (somewhat ridiculous) Kate news, did you hear about how Kate - in addition to Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz - have publicly declared their stance against plastic surgery? The trio of talented actresses discussed forming an "anti-plastic surgery" club, since they feel that their job as actresses is to show emotion on their faces. Well, yeah! Now Celebitchy seems to think that Kate is a hypocrite and has indeed had work done. They claim: "Can we talk about Kate’s face? She looks like a Kardashian dipped in bleach. This is not Kate Winslet’s natural face. She’s been plucked, sucked, tweaked, ‘Toxed, filled, injected, pulled, and chopped. That is a face made of lies." Someone over at Celebitchy obviously needs to get their eyes checked, because it doesn't look like she's had any work done AT ALL! What do you think, everyone?
Kate Winslet seen on Mar 19 2011 in London, England. Kate Winslet was ever the classy and glamorous movie star as she posed for photos at the Cardboard Citizens Gala Fundraising Dinner that was held at Christ Church Spitalfields in London, England on March 19. Ensemble wise, Kate paired a chic Max Chaoul strapless dress with black peeptoe heels and a pair of dazzling drop earrings (try Calico Juno Designs' Cosmopolitan Pearl Drop Earring). It turns out that Kate even donated this dress that she wore to event to the auction of the evening - so cool! She's obviously not going to wear the dress again once she's been photographed wearing it, so it's nice that she put it for a good cause. For those of you who didn't know, the organization Cardboard Citizens is the UK's only professional theatre company comprised of homeless and displaced people. In addition to appearing this weekend, Kate hosted Cardboard Citizens' fundraising dinner back in 2008, which helped raised over £100,000! To get a more casual version of Kate's look, try Sue Wong's stunning Vintage Beaded Short Dress in Ivory or Luc by Lucy's Cut Out Bella Dress in White, and opt for a black belt (such as Motif 56's Elise Croc Belt in Black) to emulate Kate's black sash. What are your thoughts on Kate's outfit here, everyone? It's pretty hard to dislike something so classic, especially on a beauty like Kate!
Kate Winslet seen on Jan 13 2011 in London, England. Kate Winslet was seen at the BAFTA headquarters on January 13 in London, fueling the rumors that she's going to be actively involved with the ceremony this year, which takes place on February 13. For her outfit, Kate tucked a simple yet chic black top (for a little extra glitz, try Jenny Han's Necklace Chain Tank in Black) into a high waisted tube skirt (like Tart's Jane Skirt in Black), and then slipped into a pair of Christian Louboutin peeptoe pumps. Keeping her makeup to a minimum and pulling her hair up, KW completed her outfit with a black clutch (try Julie K Handbags' Jessica Bag in Black) and a pair of gold hoop earrings. Alex and Ani's Signature Endless hoops w/ Smooth Oval Beads in Gold are gorgeous, and are more unique than your typical hoop earrings. This to me is the perfect example of timeless and classic dressing - and it doesn't hurt that Kate is one of the most talented and gorgeous actresses of our time. What are your thoughts, everyone? Kate recently began working on her latest project, the mini series "Mildred Pierce," and it seems that she's still getting adjusted to the long hours of working on a project like this. She says: "It never occurred to me, beyond the moment of reading those scripts, 'Wow, this is television, therefore it's going to be different somehow'. Sure, we have more to shoot... but the level of determination and level of focus was so much more intense than certainly any film I've ever been a part of." Kate continued, "Television is so much harder. It didn't affect the work ethic in any way other than we had more story to tell, which was a luxury, and less time to work to that goal. But that just meant we were hyper-focused." Stay focused, K!
Kate Winslet seen on Dec 29 2010 in London, England. Looking lovely in layers in London on December 29, Kate Winslet was photographed leaving Scotts Restaurant after dining with a pal. Do you think that Kate had one too many festive beverages while at dinner, hence the helping hand leading her to the car? Either way, there's no denying how classic Kate's casual ensemble is. Starting with a grey fedora (get the look with Lucky Brand's Suede Hat in Black), Kate kept warm by pairing a royal blue top with a heather grey scarf (like Aude's Michelle Scarf in Heather Grey) and oversized black blazer (check out Alexander Wang's Fine Felt Blazer in Black). From there, a pair of great black leggings (similar to Hale Bob Lounge's Basic Legging in Black), a dark green handbag with a zebra scarf tie (check out Julie K Handbags' Robin in Green) and buckled black boots (opt for a chocolate brown shade with Farylrobin's Millie Military Boot in Dark Brown) completed KW's outfit. Thoughts, readers? Is this something you would wear to a wintertime dinner with a friend? While Kate is most certainly known for her talented acting abilities, quite the stir was made when she hooked up with model Louis Dowler recently. However, it seems that the two have called it quits, as a source said: "Kate needs space to be on her own. She is very grateful to Louis for helping her pick her life back up after her marriage ended and they had a lot of fun together, but she felt it had come to an end and wants to concentrate on her career and children." Hey, it's called a rebound for a reason!
Kate Winslet seen on Sep 20 2010 in Madrid, Spain. Looking every inch the movie star, Kate Winslet was caught by photographers as she left the Vanity Fair sponsored Mario Testino photo exhibi, "Todo o Nada," in Madrid, Spain on September 20. Opting for a sleek and form fitting one shouldered Gucci dress (for similar sassy options, try either Carter's One Shoulder Gauze Mini in Black or Love Me or Leave Me Dress in Black, or Luc by Lucy's Side Shoulder Sandy Dress in Black), Kate accessorized simply with a pair of nude Louboutins and a black clutch (like Inge Christopher's Theda Oversized Clutch in Black). The look is perfection on Kate, as it's simple yet undeniably beautiful. What are your thoughts, readers? In romantic Kate news, it seems that she and her new beau Louis Dowler have been seen flaunting their love all over! A source says, "The new couple were spotted in Madrid on Wednesday, strolling hand-in-hand as they took in the sights. Kate and model Louis, both 34, were accompanied by a translator to assist them on their tour, which saw them stopping to admire a street puppeteer before putting change in his tip jar." How cute!
Kate Winslet seen on Nov 26 2009 in Potsdam, Germany. The always ravishing Kate Winslet was photographed looking poised and sophisticated as ever on the red carpet of the 2009 Bambi Awards, which were held in Potsdam, Germany on November 26. Kate was spotted chatting with guests before heading into Metropolis Hall to take in the awards show. For her red carpet ensemble, Kate chose a classic black maxi dress with embellished shoulder detailing - for two black maxi dress options on CoutureCandy, try either Gold Hawk's Garden Party Long Dress in Black or Born Uniqorn's Beaded Halter Dress with Gold Braid in Black. For the rest of her look, Kate rocked a smart updo, toted a black satin clutch (try Violet New York City's Spotlight Clutch in Black), and wore delicate drop earrings (like Lois Hill's Small Teardrop Earrings in Silver). She finished things off with a deep maroon manicure. What do you think of Kate's look overall, readers... do you think she looks hot or not? At the awards show, Kate took home the award for Best International Actress for her haunting role in The Reader, in addition to other winners Shakira and Giorgio Armani. One of the best actresses of our time, it seems that her director for the blockbuster film Titanic, James Cameron, would love to work with KW again. He says, "I’d certainly work with Kate Winslet again; she’s very talented. Whereas Leo DiCaprio switches his acting on and off like a faucet, Kate’s acting process is to internalize all this stuff and use it." Is that a dig at Leo?
Kate Winslet seen on Jun 01 2009 in New York, NY. The always stunning Kate Winslet made an appearance at the screening of Away We Go at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema on June 1 in NYC, showing support for her husband, Sam Mendes, who directed the flick. In a figure-hugging black dress with sheer lace sleeves (for more casual LBD options on CoutureCandy, check out Splendid's Racer Dress in Black, Lotta Stensson's Shirred Mini Tube Dress in Black, or 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent's High Waist Slip Dress in Black), paired with simple drop earrings (try Castaway Jewelry's Amethyst Drop Earrings) and basic black peeptoe heels. Very nice, KW! For those fans of Kate's out there, I'm sure you know that she tends to show the full monty in the majority of her projects. However, Kate says that her husband Sam is comfortable with her nude and/or sex scenes. She says, "Of course Sam doesn't get jealous. I'm not a porn star. I'm not walking out there and actually having sex with other people for my job. He doesn't get jealous at all, not in the slightest. It's really not a big deal. I feel that any level of nudity in films that I have been a part of has been absolutely relevant and actually enhanced the story." How very mature of them both! As long as Kate was dishing the dirt, she has revealed that she had to wear a pubic wig for her role in The Reader, to make sure that the film was historically accurate. Says K, "I had to grow the hair down there. But because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn't come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin - a wig - because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough." Talk about a dedication to her role!
Kate Winslet seen on Jan 08 2009 in New York, NY. The extremely talented Kate Winslet was spotted heading into film an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on January 8 in NYC, looking ravishing. For Kate's simple and chic look, start with a great fitting pair of black skinny jeans, like Hudson Jeans' Carly Skinny Jean in Black, and pair with killer black pointed-toe boots and a sleek black blazer (similar to Signorelli's Logo Blazer in Black). Accessory wise, KW kept it simple with a dainty gold necklace, a cozy scarf (check out A Graves' Paisley Scarf in Grey), and a caryall bag in a yummy chocolate color (like Carla Mancini's The Shopper Bag in Brown). What do you think of Kate's look here? I think that she's been looking better than ever lately! Kate was paying Letterman a visit to promote her new film with Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, Revolutionary Road. The film centers on "a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s who struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children." While Kate already won the Critic's Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in The Reader, she is considered one of the front-runners for tonight's Golden Globes ceremony. What do you think, does Kate deserve the win? One thing is for sure, she will definitely dazzle on the red carpet tonight!
Kate Winslet seen on Jan 02 2009 in Beverly Hills, CA. The beautiful and talented Kate Winslet made an appearance at the 2009 Oscar Nominees Luncheon held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 2, opting for basic black and gold for her outfit. In a classic, chic LBD (for more casual options, check out Karina Grimaldi's Ruffle Silk Mini Dress in Black, Ella Moss' James Flare Sleeve Dress in Black, or, if you're feeling a little snazzier, Smitten's Capsleeve Sequins Dress in Black), Kate kept her accessories simple, wearing black heels, gold bracelets (pile on Rachel Leigh's Sweet Tooth Bangle in Gold) and a beautiful gold necklace (very similar to Robyn Rhodes' Grace Necklace in Gold). What do you think of Kate's look here? I think she looks classy and elegant - as always! At the luncheon, Kate chatted about her children's opinion of her role in The Reader, saying, "They got mightily fed up with me reading bedtime stories with a German accent! They said, ‘Mum, just be plain. Don’t do any funny stuff like voices. Just be regular!’" She continued, "I had to say, ‘But, I’m not regular and I’m never going to be regular. When you’re a teenager you’re going to know that it’s cool!’" I love it!
