I'm sorry to report that Jessica Simpson and her Cowboys beau Tony Romo are no more. The couple called it quits last week after Tony stormed out the night before Jessica's 29th birthday. Break-ups are never fun for anyone, especially when they force you to cancel your Barbie & Ken themed party, but I hope this horrible choice of dress didn't have anything to do with it! In their last public appearance together, Jess and Tony were spotted at the AT&T National PGA Golf Tournament back on July 1 in Bethesda, MD. Jess belted out the national anthem while Tony had the privilege of teeing off with Tiger Woods at the tourney. I'd like to comment on their body language: Tony is smiling and laughing while Jess mock (or for real?) punches him in the chest. I bet she'd like to do a whole lot worse now that he dumped her the night before her b-day! Jess took a nautical approach to the event, arriving in a clingy Michael Kors Spring 2009 dress. Ugh, the colors, the stripes! I love Michael and I think the cut-outs on the back save this dress from total failure, but this is a horrible look for her. She looks lumpy, bumpy and wide! I honestly can't understand why anyone would let her wear this. Maybe she's better off without Romo – she needs someone a little more honest at her side! To make this look work for you, stick to wider stripes like Autumn Cashmere's Striped Elbow Sleeve Dress in Black Granite Hemp or Letarte's breezy Blanket Stripe Dress in Multi. Jess accented her 'fit with a chunky chain bracelet (similar to CC Skye's Double Wrap Bracelet in Red) and big gold earrings (opt for Amy DiGregorio's Buckingham Road Earrings in Gold Vermeil). I'm pretty sure it's unanimous that this does not work for her, but would any of you wear the horizontal stripes? While there are a lot of he-said-she-said rumors floating around about what actually caused the split (a few involving John Mayer) the best one so far involves what many Simpson fans have been dreaming of: a Newlyweds reunion! Nick Lachey is also newly single, splitting recently with long time love Vanessa Minnillo. Friends of the former couple say it's not out of the question for them to give it another shot: "They never stopped caring for one another, and they've remained in distant contact since they split. There's every chance that they could give it another go. On top of that, neither Nick nor Jessica's careers are exactly on the rise right now, and it could be just the professional shot in the arm they both need to get back on top." Ok, minus the suggestion that it would give them both great publicity, I think this is just what Jess needs to get the mess that is her life back together! Can any of you see a reunion in the future?
