SAVED BY FASHION MACGYVER

Isla Fisher seen on Feb 20 2011 in Berlin, Germany & London, England. Trying out two lacy looks overseas, Isla Fisher crossed the pond to promote her new animated flick Rango on February 20 in Berlin, Germany. Isla first arrived at the Berlin premiere in a fitted all-over lace dress by Elise Øverland (get the look with Luc by Lucy's Back Zipper Lace Dress in Military Green) and a pair of cocoa suede pumps. Isla added a little edge to the lacy look with a crimson buckle bracelet (try adding a pop of color that will work with many looks like Amrita Singh's East End Bracelet in Multi Color) and a cocktail ring on her middle finger, wearing her gorgeous red tresses in full cascading waves. The following day Isla turned up in London at a photocall with co-star Abigail Breslin, pairing a nude strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with black lace overlay (like Sue Wong's Satin Applique Strapless Sheath in Black/Nude) with a black Vanessa Bruno jacket (lace lovers try Bailey 44's Queen Cardigan in Black) and a pair of black pumps. I think her shoes could have been more exciting, but otherwise I think both looks suit her figure and the occasion. Thoughts? Isla was spotted catching a flight out of Heathrow Airport in London the next day, returning to LA just in time for the Oscars. Isla appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week, where she shared a hilarious story about her fashion malfunction at the Vanity Fair after-party. After bumping into Larry David, the producer gave her a "firm, hard hug" that snapped her dress strap, leaving her exposed! Luckily she was in good company: "But only at the Vanity Fair party, the crowds parted, and there appeared my fashion angel in the name of Tom Ford, who had on him a cufflink, a wire coat hanger and a candlestick. He's like a fashion 'MacGyver'! He MacGyvered my strap back on, and I had a great night!" What a lucky break! Can't wait to see this encounter work its way into an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm next season!

READY TO RANGO

Isla Fisher seen on Feb 14 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. Making a radiant return to the red carpet, Isla Fisher strikes a pose in a bold hue at the Los Angeles premiere of her new animated flick Rango on February 14. Isla has been laying low for the better part of a year after giving birth to her second child, whose name she and papa Sacha Baron Cohen still haven't released, although she's been spotted on outings with older sis Olive. Isla showed off her post-baby bod in a brilliant blue Temperley London frock (stand out in Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Quilted Mini Dress in Teal or Sue Wong's Embroidered Summer Floral Mini in Turquoise) with a pair of satiny silver pumps and a shiny copper clutch (add a silky texture with Jalda's Fabric Kona in Bronze). To complete the look Isla added a mixed bangle set (try Alex and Ani's Empire Limited Edition Bangle Set in Multi) and a pair of a slim stick earrings (similar to Circadian Studios' Silver Branch Post Earring in Silver). I love the intricate pleating on the dress, but the combination of three satiny pieces in different shades is a little overwhelming for me. Thoughts? For her first post-baby appearance I have to say Isla is looking fantastic, chatting on the red carpet about her battle to get back in shape: "I used to say that I could eat anything I wanted and it was true, and now I can tell you that I can't eat whatever I want." That doesn't sound like any fun, but at least her efforts paid off!

CORSET CHEATER

Isla Fisher seen on Oct 25 2010 in London, UK. Looking lovely in London, Isla Fisher steps out for her first appearance since the birth of her second child over the summer. Isla arrived at the BBC Radio 1 Studios in London for an interview on October 25, gearing up for the premiere of her new flick Burke and Hare later that evening. Embracing her fuller figure, Isla headed out in a vintage style boucle dress (nab her charming style with Suzabelle's Mackenzie Dress in Charcoal or Nanette Lepore's Secret Code Dress in Grey) with perky pink pumps and a black tote bag (try Rough Roses' roomy Jewel Double Handle Satchel in Black), accenting the look with a long gold necklace (like Alanna Bess' sophisticated Rutilated Quartz in Gold). I'm smitten with her luscious red waves and obvious post-baby glow – what do you think of her style here? Isla did a great job of keeping her pregnancy a secret, and still has yet to announce her new baby's name and birthday, but she did such a great job concealing it that even her co-stars didn't know. Isla filmed Burke and Hare when she was three months pregnant, laughing about her co-stars' obliviousness: “I had severe morning sickness and I didn’t eat anything and I just vomited all the time. Simon Pegg is the least observant actor in the planet because he didn’t notice. I think he presumed I was just a typical Hollywood bulimic actress rather than the fact that I was severely sick.” Isla was even required to wear a corset for the period film, which she managed to sneak her way out of: “That was difficult… so I didn’t really squeeze into [the corset]. I used to pretend I was wearing a corset and then not wear it, just wear a push up bra – don’t tell the director that.” I'm not sure your secret is safe anymore, Isla!

CAN'T HIDE HER BABY BUMP

Isla Fisher seen on May 04 2010 in Hollywood, CA. Taking care of her ballerina girl, Isla Fisher picks up baby girl Olive Cohen from her Hollywood dance class on May 4. There's been a lot of speculation lately about Isla's growing tummy, and I think these pics are the official explanation behind her super secret wedding to long time beau Sacha Baron Cohen last month. Congrats to the happy couple with their second baby on the way! Wearing a vibrant printed tunic (work the silky print in Meghan Fabulous' Venus Top in Turquoise) with dark indigo jeans (like 7 For All Mankind's classic Skinny Rinse in Indigo), Isla paired her casual look with Tory Burch flip-flops (love the strap detail of Gwyneth Shoes' Athena T Strap Sandal in Grey) and accented her red tresses with turquoise earrings (try Calico Juno's gorgeous Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Swirls in Gold). All together a cute and casual look that shows off her growing baby bump in a cute way, even if she hasn't officially announced she's adding a little one to the fam yet. Speaking of baby names, Isla made headlines earlier this week when the Social Security Administration released the official baby name popularity stats for 2009. In a press release the SSA dished on the huge soar in celebrity names being used, from Twilight characters Isabella and Edward to the First Daughter, Malia. Isla came in at #2 on the list of girls' names that rose fastest in popularity this year, coming up from #619 in 2008 to #346 in 2009. Pretty impressive for Ms. Fisher! Wonder if Sacha and Isla will name their little one after a celeb friend or do some creative thinking?

NEWLYWED DEETS

Isla Fisher seen on Apr 01 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Looking especially perky after her recent nuptials, Isla Fisher takes her adorable daughter Olive to ballet class in LA on April 1. Isla and her little one just returned to the west coast after a semi-secretive rendezvous in Paris, where Isla and her fiancé of 6 years Sacha Baron Cohen finally tied the knot in a very small, traditional Jewish ceremony with a group of their closest friends and family - with Olive as the flower girl, of course! Dressed casually for her afternoon out with her little girl, Isla paired a summery printed top (check out the soft floral print on Ella Moss' Ginger Drop Top in Dime) with cuffed jeans (like Joes Jeans' slouchy Best Friend in Kerri) and a khaki cargo jacket (I prefer Diesel's edgy Limik Leather Jacket in Tan). Keeping things easy, Isla slipped into strappy tan flats (check out Gwyneth Shoes' Briee Strap Sandal in Brown, available in a rainbow of shades to suit your summer palette). As a final touch Isla carried a studded messenger bag (love the unique details on Danielle Nicole's Kristi Messenger in Stone) and kept her peepers covered with dark sunnies, giving Olive a fun pair to match hers. What do you think of Isla's laidback mama look? Over a year ago, Isla hinted she wanted to keep her long anticipated wedding ceremony under wraps: "It's very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrated with my family and friends… And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being really visible is really difficult." It makes me happy to see this clever couple was able to fool the paps and have the private affair they dreamed of – congrats to them!

CRUDE AWAKENING

Isla Fisher seen on Sep 17 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Back from a summer hiatus filming in Ireland, Isla Fisher attends the screening of the expository documentary Crude hosted by Amazon Watch in Hollywood on September 17. Isla is known for her eco-chic ways – driving a hybrid, eating local organic veggies and sharing showers with fiancé Sacha Baron Cohen are just a few planet friendly steps she's taken – so it's no surprise she would step out in support of the new docu flick exposing the ongoing battle between the Amazon's indigenous dwellers and Chevron's pollution causing quest for crude. For the event Isla chose to support Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Elizabeth and James line, choosing a playful bandeau gown with a watercolor print tulip skirt (try frocks in similar palettes like Sky's Ronce Dress in Gray, Sue Wong's Floral Printed Gown in Turquoise or Nanette Lepore's Wild Thing Dress in Olive). Isla's dress was previously worn on the red carpet by Shawn Johnson at the CMT Awards a few months back – I think you know who has my vote for who wore it better! Isla styled the look with an armful of bangles (try sets like Alex and Ani's Set of 7 Signature Expandable Wire Bangles in Gold), ivory peep-toes, loose waves and natural make-up. Perf! What do you think of Isla's free spirited look?

LA TRENDSPOTTING: MINI MANIA

Isla Fisher seen on Jul 07 2009 in Hollywood & Brentwood, CA.

There's a new trend hitting Hollywood this summer, and it couldn't be easier to recreate. Isla Fisher and Reese Witherspoon are two of LA's best dressed mamas, and both are loving the leggy look. The tucked-in tank with a flirty mini is one of my personal favs this season, thanks to its versatility and flattering silhouette. Other celebs who've tried it include Heidi Montag, Sophia Bush, and Audrina Patridge. If ladies this different can rock the same style, need I say more?

Playing up the casual vibe, Isla wore her trademark cascading red tresses in beachy waves while running errands in Hollywood on June 26, starting with a black scoop tank tucked into a cute red striped mini and black flip-flops. Toning her accessories down with a glossy black leather Tory Burch bag (check out CC Skye's similar Taylor Bag in Black, which also has a convenient shoulder strap) and a gold charm necklace (love Maya Brenner's World Peace Necklace in Gold), I think Isla looks cute and put together without trying too hard. Taking the look in a slightly different direction, Reese was spotted out in Brentwood on July 7 rocking a similar vibe. She opted for trendy gladiator sandals and a canvas shoulder bag (Antoinette Lee's Stella Tote in Striped Canvas is adorable), going with a navy tucked in tank and 3.1 Phillip Lim graphic print skirt, pulling the look together with a few silver bracelets (check out Michele Michel's simple Bracelet in Silver to add a little shine to any ensemble). The result is a youthful, flattering 'fit that works on a variety of body types. I love Reese's shape but she is generally known as one of Hollywood's "full-figured" stars (please), and you can see how slimming the waistline is. Is there anything you'd wear differently?

And now for the sweet part: To make this look your own, start with your fav skirt, preferably mid to high waist (if you need options try Plenty by Tracy Reese's Pegged Skirt in Vanilla and Camel, Karen Zambos' Greta Skirt in Electric Blue, or Black Halo's High Waist Pleated Pocket Skirt in Black to start) paired with a basic tank (opt for Dear Cashmere's Banded Tank in Daiquiri Acid or Splendid's basic Light Jersey Tank in a variety of colors). Finish with your fav flats - or heels! - and a few quirky jewelry items. There's really no wrong way to do it, so have fun and put your best foot forward!

BRUNO BABE

Isla Fisher seen on Jun 25 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Making us all green with envy, Isla Fisher takes a cue from her long time lover's alter-ego and strikes a pose at the Los Angeles premiere of Bruno on June 25 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It's a very unique look, but I absolutely love Isla's lacy green Stella McCartney frock with a sheer white yoke. The emerald shade looks great with Isla's long red waves, don't you think? If green is your choice color try Gold Hawk's Tribal Queen Dress in Nile Green or the Sequin Dress in Celedon Green. Adding some shine with gold Bulgari bracelets (opt for Accessories & Beyond's Braided Magnetic Cuff Bracelet in Bronze), lustworthy Mechante of London pumps, and a sleek black clutch (try Julie K's Sarah Clutch in Black Glaze), I think Isla pulls this off effortlessly. Do you any of you think it's not working for her? While she and Sacha Baron Cohen have been dating since 2002 and engaged for the past two years, as of last week the couple put their wedding plans on hold again due to their hectic filming schedules. In addition to Sacha's massive publicity tour for Bruno, Isla starred in Confessions of a Shopaholic earlier this year and recently wrapped up work for the animated flick Rango, where she voices a character alongside Johnny Depp and Abigail Breslin. A friend dished on why they're in no rush: "With all their projects, Isla and Sacha haven't had time to tie the knot. They have set their hearts on getting married in Italy." A romantic Italian wedding sounds well worth the wait! I just can't wrap my mind around Bruno as the groom…

ISLA'S TINY DANCER

Isla Fisher seen on Jun 25 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Now that June gloom has finally worn off, Isla Fisher enjoys the Los Angeles sunshine and gets summer chic while out and about in Hollywood on June 25. On the morning of her fiance's Los Angeles Bruno premiere, Isla was spotted taking her baby girl to a dance class before picking up some java and venturing out on her own. How adorable does Olive look with in her hot pink tutu and matching All-Star high tops? Isla doesn't look so bad herself, proving that moms can be trendy too in a fun pansy print frock (check out Plenty by Tracy Reese's Empire Halter Dress in Chambray or Tricia Fix's Gina Cocktail Dress in Yellow Brown Daisy), tan bandage sandals and an ostrich leather tote over her shoulder (it has a different texture, but Carla Mancini's Hobo with Front Lock in Tan is great for girls on the go). Isla completed her look with gold leaf earrings (just like Lisa K's Tea Leaf Earrings in Gold) and a gold charm necklace (pair the earrings with Maya Brenner's coordinating Mixed Charms Necklace in Gold). What do you think of Isla's casual 'fit? The Confessions of a Shopaholic star has been having some down time in LA over the past week, getting ready for fiancé Sacha Baron Cohen's long anticipated (well, maybe not anticipated, but definitely ridiculously publicized) new comedy Bruno to hit theaters today. Are any of you rushing to get tickets? Isla likes to keep the details of their personal life private, so it's not often you find her gabbing about her beau, she in a recent interview she talked about his influence on her career: "Sacha was the reason I got into comedy. I was actually auditioning for a lot of dramatic roles and having no success at all. I was losing confidence in my abilities when he recommended that I do comedy. He felt I was really funny, so when someone as funny as him recommends that I listened and actually auditioned for “Wedding Crashers”, which ended up being my big break." With all the messed up celebrity relationships out there, it's refreshing to hear that Isla's man is so supportive. Do you prefer Isla's comedic style or could you see her transitioning into more dramatic roles someday?
