INSPIRED BY THE TROOPS

Going about her daily business, Jessica Simpson was spotted leaving the Ritz Carlton Hotel in NYC on September 29, signing a few autographs for fans before hopping in her SUV. Jess was en route to catch a flight out of LaGuardia Airport, heading overseas to pay a visit to the troops. Drawing inspiration from her impending travels, Jess channeled fall's military trend with a fitted brass buttoned jacket (check out Walter's Double Breasted Sailor Coat in Black) paired with a long white tank and faded skinny jeans (similar to Artisan de Luxe's Rider in Snow Blue). Jess headed out in navy suede booties (check out Rock & Republic's edgy Nahlo Booties in Grey) and brightened the look with turquoise hoop earrings (try Michele Michel's Chalcedony and Silver Hoops in Silver), carrying one of her signature monstrous totes over her arm (tone it down without sacrificing style with Carla Mancini's Tall Shopper with Braided Handles in Taupe). While Jessica tweeted how excited she was to head to the Persian Gulf, things took a slightly different turn once she boarded the USS Harry S. Truman on October 1 to hang out with the sailors and perform some of her hit songs. According to Us Weekly, Jess was having trouble coping with the 97 degree heat and fell ill while performing, reporting: "She was dehydrated and got sick before she performed, and even got an IV. The doctor told her not to sing, but she did anyway." Poor Jess! While the above is true, the gossip mag also added a few falsehoods to jazz up the story, including that Jess chugged 3 Red Bulls and only performed one song before vomiting and leaving the stage. Gossip Cop sets the record straight here – and according to the United States Navy report, Jess had a great time with the troops: "I've been on many USO trips, and I always enjoy sitting and talking with service members. To be on board Truman has been a blessing… I can't express enough how much I appreciate the sacrifices you make for our country." That sounds more like the Texas sweetheart than skipping out on a performance!
