INDUCTED TO THE CFDA

The sisters Olsen were spotted in all of their eccentric, messy, chic glory at the 2009 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s new members reception held at the Four Seasons Restaurant last night, October 21, where they were inducted into the council alongside such notable designers as Alexander Wang. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were also spotted posing for pictures with legendary designer Diane Von Furstenberg (who the girls interviewed for their book "Influence") during this momentous evening. As far as their looks, let's start with MK. She paired a long black gown (try Tt Collection's Cristophe Double Layer Gown in Black) under a black coat with delicate white embroidery and classic black heels. For her makeup, Mary-Kate's crimson pout and dark, smokey eye was enhanced by a deliciously girly pink cheek. Ashley, on the other hand, rocked a similar look with contrasting colors, instead choosing a long white dress (similar to Susana Monaco's Sarah Dress in Creme Fraiche) under a sharp black coat (check out Suzabelle's fashionable and functional Fremont Jacket in Black) with blood red heels and a delicate gold necklace. For their hair, both girls chose a wavy, slightly tousled style for their blonde locks, and toted brighly colored, exotic clutches (if you are into this style of bag, Moyna Handbags' makes an amazing selection of bags that are anything from ordinary, such as the Embroidered Folk Bag in Orange, the Velvet Box Frame Clutch in Fuchsia, or the Snap Closure Beaded Clutch in Red/Gold - which is your fave?) for the evening. The clutches are the only thing I like - I never really care that much for their clothes but the greasy hair and brown smudgy eyeshadow is awful

Ashley's dress is a production sample from the Row (light pink not white), I love the way her clothes fit - look so comfy and stylish, i marked contrast so the uncomfortable trend that fashion tends to embody.

^ nice observation! I always find it so interesting to see the two camps: 1) Those who think the Olsen's are slobs with freakish fashion sense and 2) Those who admire their trendsetting style. So funny!
