The always lovely Katie Holmes keeps it classy in a full length tweed coat in NYC on February 9. KH attended the opening celebration of the Hermes Man on Madison store in the city, opting to wear a sophisticated overcoat from the flagship store across the street (nab K's classy style without breaking the bank in Pink Polka Dot's Cozy Coat in Grey or Bailey 44's Coller Coat in Heather Grey). Staying true to her polished style, Katie wore indigo wide leg trousers (like Tag Jeans' Wide Leg Jean in Dark Destructed) with a plain white button down (try the exquisite tailoring of Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti's Long Sleeve Ruched Front Top in White) and open-toed black booties (play on the open toe style with Coye Nokes' two toned Josephine T Platform Bootie in Black/Ginger), despite the snowstorm outside. Slightly messy tresses, flushed cheeks and a rosy tinted pout complete Kat's chic style for the evening. What do you think of her 'fit, is it appropriate for the event? At the party, Katie took a break from her motherly duties to hang out with her stylist and design partner Jeanne Yang. In an interview with WWD this week, the design duo chatted about what's to come for the second season of their luxury line, Holmes & Yang. Katie indulged, “We were inspired by the colors of a traditional ballet, and the lives of all our friends. The clothes are romantic but also tough, because we wanted to give a wardrobe to that smart, strong woman.” From her work with the Dizzy Feet Foundation to taking Suri back and forth to dance classes over the past year to her friendship with Victoria Beckham, it's easy to see where Katie's design influences come from. Given that the line is committed to producing only in New York's garment district, yet sold exclusively at Maxfield's in LA, you can imagine that each unique piece you might discover comes with a hefty price tag attached.
