About the Designer

Turya Nations is the creative mind behind Guy Baxter. She got her introduction to fashion while running her own Vintage Clothing Store. Within the first year her store was taken over and wiped out by a vicious tornado. She decided to pack up and leave the city, and ended up in Nashville TN, where she went to study Music technology. While in school she met her now husband, Braxton, an eclectic music producer, who is also her business partner in Guy Baxter. Having salvaged most of her stores stock, Turya began recycling her favorite pieces into more modernized one of a kind designs. This started to create a buzz within the city, and she started getting hired by local musicians and record labels to do personal styling jobs for videos, photo shoots, and album covers. The phone kept ringing and Turya started getting calls from local boutiques for her one of a kind pieces. Turya then designed a few small t-shirt collections. They would sell out each weekend, and at that point Turya knew this was something she could become serious about. The couple decided to move to Los Angeles, and it was here where they started Guy Baxter. They combined their artistic sensibilities and sought out to create a label which eclectically mixes modernism, timeless concepts, and everything feminine and pure. Having studied Photography and Music, Turya has always been inspired by things Visual and Audible. In her spare time, Turya has become quite an avid collector. Things like vintage cameras, movie projectors, vintage hats, suit cases, and books. All these things, serve as a great inspiration for her. Im very inspired by things I find in the most random places, like the flea markets and swap meets in small towns. I always find the most random stuff, especially modern architectural pieces, vintage furniture, and 1950s composer records. I just love what people created in the eras 1950s-1970s. Artists back then had a great sense of Self, Authenticy, and Spirit within their art
